The Finest Sheets I Have Ever Known

When we finally bought a king size bed I searched high and low for sheets that were high quality at a price I was willing to pay. I found a set at J C Penneys which were significantly marked down.

This set of sheets was the right color. The thread count was 600 which seemed sufficient. They felt right to me and they bore the magic phrase. Egyptian cotton! I didn't know for sure what Egyptian cotton was but I had seen a movie where the heroine buys a set for some shocking amount $1200 I think, and the recipient writes a song entitled Egyptian cotton.

So the color and the price were right, did I mention they were substantially marked down? I think I know why these particular sheets were priced as they were because the elastic in the fitted sheet broke the first time I attempted to put them on the bed. I probably should have returned them but since I had washed them already and they felt so wonderful I kept them.

The set came with two king sized pillow cases. Because my husband uses two pillows, one king and one standard I picked up a set of two standard pillow cases in what I thought was the identical fabric.

Well the loss of elastic was never an issue as the fitted sheet could accommodate a mattress twice the width of ours. I would tuck the edges under when I made the bed and they always stayed put. Each week I would strip this set of sheets off the bed, launder them, and put them right back on.

The color, a muted green, matched our bedroom perfectly. The feel of those sheets was remarkable! They were smooth and crisp with a hint of silkiness. I loved the feel of those sheets and they always felt the same despite the ever increasing number of weekly washings.

That's how I discovered the standard pillow cases were not the same. After 50 or 60 weekly washings the standard pillow cases began to show ware. I checked the tags on the sheets and on the cases. All the information was the same except for the words Egyptian cotton. Some how that designation didn't appear on the pillow cases. I replaced that set of cases with another set of apparent good quality but again not EC. That set wore out too over time despite only one standard case being laundered each week and the king set looking like the day I purchased it.

The third set of pillow cases I bought were Egyptian cotton and they seemed to last much better than the first two sets. Five or six years passed, and somewhere between 250 or 300 washings it finally happened, the first sign of ware. I was putting the bottom sheet on the bed and saw that a small area had been worn very thin. With the sheets on the bed said area was exactly where my husbands feet would be whenever he was in bed.

When I mentioned this to him he tried to dodge the blame saying "I doubt you put the same side of the sheet on the same side of the bed every time". Nice try sweetie. However, I do exactly that. I put the same side of the sheet on the same side of the bed every time. I think a king size bed may be square and the bottom sheet may fit no matter which way you do it but that is not the case with a queen size and that is what we had for the first ten years of our marriage. I had gotten into the habit of starting the fitted sheet with the corner that had the tag on it on the lower right corner of the bed. This was my method and I never deviated.

Consequently the tiny blue stain from some Jean Nate' body lotion always appeared on my side of the bed at knee level. I knew for sure what had vanquished my wonderful indestructible bed sheets. It was none other than my darling husbands feet his Fred Flintstone feet. Damn them! Damn those feet to hell

Obama Administration Resembles Emily Litella

Are you old enough to remember Gilda Radner's SNL character Emily Litella? Ms. Litella would speak out on some issue that she had misheard like the "Deaf Penalty" or "Eagle Rights". Once her misunderstanding was pointed out to her she would simply say "Never mind."

Well the Obama Administration is saying "Never mind" on a host of issues. When Obama took office the mastermind of 9-11 KSM (look it up if you need to this creature does not deserve a name and I will not use his full name ever again) had been tried by a military tribunal, had proudly plead guilty & was close to the death penalty he had requested. "Death Penalty" not "Deaf Penalty" Emily.

The Obama Administration decided they could do what had already been done, better. Consequently they stopped the process for two years of political posturing and missteps that have finally brought KSM back to a Military trial. Return to "GO" do not collect $200.00! I would like to think that the President & Eric Holder would not have spent the past 4 years undermining the integrity of U.S. Military Tribunals if they had known this wuld happen. It's like these guys never consider the future consequences of their words & actions.

I'll never forget Obama's first act in office. Our new President signed an executive order stating that the military prison at Guantanamo would be closed. The President had no idea how this was going to be done. That was illustrated 10 seconds later when in response to the question "How" the President asked an aide if there was a second order for him to sign with the procedure. The aide momentarily stunned recovered and replied "Ah, That has not been determined yet".

Two years later the number one priority of this Administration, closing Guantanamo is another "Never mind". Apparently the creation of a detention center in a spot that was under U.S. control but not on U.S. soil was the perfect solution for dealing with terrorists. Clinton tried using civilian courts against the first wave of terrorists who bombed the World Trade Center in 1993 and they were caught and convicted. However treating people who were waging war against this country as criminals paved the way for the 9-11 attack. Clinton could not know this for sure in 1993 but in 2009 with the benefit of hindsight Obama should have known better.

Well, never mind.

Ski Stories

A man crashed his snowboard into a tree and sunk so deeply into the loose snow around the tree he could not get himself out. He had his cell phone and called his wife asking her to call the Ski Patrol for help. He told her "If they don't find me I am going to die". To which the concerned wife replied "Are you serious?" Causing him to scream into the phone "Call them! Apparently being buried alive in snow makes some folks cranky. This did remind me of a couple of my scary ski stories.

I was skiing one beautiful day and not paying attention to the trails as I was following a couple of young hotdogs from my club. I guess I lagged behind a bit and taking a turn I thought the guys had taken I found myself off the trail. The snow was deep and messy and I came to a stop and didn’t think I could turn around in my skis so I took them off planning to walk out to the trail.

This was a big mistake as I immediately sunk to my armpits in the loose snow. I had a moment of panic when I found I could neither crawl out of the snow nor put my skis back on buried as I was. After a few minutes I devised an exit plan. I arranged my skis and poles within reach and where they could not slip away or sink below the snow. I took one ski and used it to compact the snow directly in front of me. In just 5-10 minutes I had built a wall of snow that was firm enough for me to climb up on it to get my skis back on my boots.

I carefully sidestepped until I was pointed in the direction I needed to go. I brushed most of the snow off myself and skied out on to the trail with a big sigh of relief. I skied down to the lift thinking I had gotten my self into a very dangerous situation but had also gotten myself out, on my own. I waited at the lift for the guys to “catch up” with me confident they would not know how I got “ahead” of them. They came along shortly and neither one asked where I had been so I knew no help would have come from them. I focused on a second moment of relief as I was safe and no one knew I had gotten lost & nearly buried alive.

Later that evening an older woman who was one of the officers in the Ski Counsel approached me. “Did I see you rolling around in the snow just off one of the trails this morning?” Rats, I thought I had gotten off clean. This person had an uncanny knack for catching me at my worst; it figures she would have been on the lift that ran above me during the exact time of my little adventure. “No” I smoothly lied, “That wasn’t me.” “The person I saw was wearing a silver & pink ski suit just like yours” she persisted. “Well” I laughed “I bought that ski suit from the J C Penney’s catalog I can hardly be the only person on the mountain who owns one.”

I’m sure she knew I was lying but I didn’t care. She could never be 100% sure and without proof she was unlikely to tell anyone else. I was not going to admit the unfortunate person she saw was me, no way!

The next time I got lost on a mountain was at Vail. I love Vail. I used to like to say Aspen is expensive because it’s Aspen , Vail is expensive because it’s worth it. Vail has a big ski area and once again I was relying on the kindness of strangers and not even bothering to carry a map of the ski trails. I can’t really tell you where I went wrong but I was lost, I was alone and I could see a road. I popped my skis off and hiked to the road where there was a sign announcing “Vail 2 miles ahead”. What, how was that even possible?

I saw a building which appeared to be a mechanic business or something like that. I walked to the business thinking I could ask to use the phone and call a cab to get me back to the base of the mountain. I was supposed to be in a race in about an hour on the far side of Vail ski area. Although the men I spoke with did not refuse to call me a cab they did point me in the direction of a nearby Hyatt which had it’s own ski lift that I could use to get back on the marked ski trails of Vail.

I got to the lift rather easily and there was no one checking to make sure I was a guest of the hotel or in any way restricting access. I took this lift to the top of one of the Vail Ski trails. It took me more than an hour skiing down and taking the next lift up to work my way from one side of the ski area to the opposite side where the Florida Ski Counsel downhill race was taking place. I got to the top of the course just in time to take my first run after hearing the team captain scream “Where the hell have you been?” Having just skied for about 90 minutes straight I didn’t have the breath to respond. I had a good run though as I had never hit the race course so thoroughly warmed up!

On another ski day I was with two older guys who were real die hards. They liked to go to the very top of the mountain for the last run of the day and ski all the way to the bar at the bottom non-stop. I was happy to join then and we all arrived completely out of breath. These guys liked to dance too, as did I. I had found that if I danced after skiing I wouldn’t wake up stiff and sore the next morning. If I just skied, stopped and sat around I would suffer for it tomorrow. We got a pitcher of beer and proceeded to dance in our ski boots.

Two Australian guys watching us got a kick out of this. They came by our table and asked my two guy friends “Would it be okay if we danced with your young lady?” To which my “friends” said “Sure go right ahead!” Something about this whole transaction rubbed me the wrong way. If someone wants to dance with me I think they should ask me not my prior dance partners.

However I did dance with the Aussie. I thought refusing to dance would make me look petty. Besides, I had a better punishment in mind for this charming male chauvinist. The next song was pretty fast and this guy was going to dance in his ski boots too since we had made it look so easy. I think this might have been his first day at altitudes much higher than those he came from down under. Ski boots are pretty heavy and dancing in them can wear one out. I was not going to stop until this guy begged for mercy or passed out. He lasted two songs, better than I expected and thanked me and staggered back to his buddy and collapsed in his seat.

Good times!

A World Without Children

Most people are unaware that there are Enviro-Mentals out there rooting for the end of the human race. One spokesman for this point of view whose name I never bothered to remember has had a vasectomy and urges all humans to be sterilized. Do these people ever imagine what would happen if the idea they are pushing actually caught on?

I'm sure they imagine a beautiful pristine world with no people to muck it up. I don't now what a "perfect" world would be worth without anyone alive to witness and enjoy it. But what would it take to get to that point? How horrible to be one of the last expiring elderly with no younger people around to care for you in your last days? How terrible would it be to live for decades without children in the world. It would be like Narnia under the White Witch where it was always winter but never Christmas.

The world is a wonderful thing but without people it serves no purpose.

Is a cup of tea too much to ask?

Is a cup of tea too much to ask? If you are a coffee drinker perhaps you can relate. Imagine that when you wake up and stagger into the kitchen one morning seeking that first cup that you need so desperately only to find that someone has hidden the coffee. This is something that happens to me about every 3 to 6 months. Making my morning tea requires four things, a cup, a teabag, sweetener and my two cup measuring cup. Who can wait for a kettle to boil when the microwave can serve up two cups of boiling water in 3 minutes? However, I need my Pyrex two cup measuring cup to hold the water while it boils. This has been explained to my husband on several occasions.

Still, this morning I was ready for my necessary cup of tea and my husband was already gone to work. My cup which I had left on the kitchen counter was nowhere to be found. It was not in the dishwasher, where I usually find it. It was not in either of the kitchen cabinets where plates, cups and bowls abide. I did find a rarely used 1 quart measuring cup and filled it half way and put it into the microwave.

I prepared my tea cup with a tea bag and two packets of Splenda and then had two minutes to stop and think. Where? Where could he have put it this time? I realized that both of my 2 cup and my 1 cup measuring cups were all missing. They had to be together somewhere. Two out of three had been in the dishwasher which my husband emptied the evening before. Okay, I had already looked where these items should be it was time to look where they shouldn’t be.

It was a short search. I found all three cups stacked inside each other on the top shelf of the pantry next to the flour, sugar and microwave popcorn. Should I explain my need for this one item to never be moved or just buy two more identical cups as back-ups? I could stash them in secret places like an alcoholic hiding booze. That question needs to be left to a morning when I get my cup of tea without the scavenger hunt.

Governor Christy Scandal?

I had heard as you may have that Governor of New Jersey Chris Christy is being investigated by the Obama Justice department for overspending on trips while serving as Attorney General of New Jersey. I hadn't heard any details and was concerned that someone who is such a fiscal conservative could have been living large on the taxpayers’ dime.

Fox and Friends broke the story this morning with figures. The Justice Department reviewed 23 trips taken between 2007 and 2009. By determining what the cheapest accommodations available were they have determined Christy could have paid $2176 less over those 23 trips.

Really? Really Obama? Really Eric Holder? You decided to drop charges against a Black Panther standing in front of a polling place with a 14 inch baton in a holster at his hip. You decided to START OVER prosecuting KSM (Khalid Sheikh Mohammed) despite the fact that he had been found guilty by a military tribunal. KSM has admitted he was the mastermind of the 9/11 attach and had asked for the death penalty. TWO YEARS LATER, Eric Holder says he is close to a decision regarding where the new trial for KSM will take place.

Still the DOJ had the time and resources to comb through the old expense reports of a popular Republican Governor looking for dirt. Despite their partisan efforts all they come up with was alleged over-spending by comparing the lowest possible rate with the rate Christy paid. This was brought up during the election and dismissed as nonsense. As Governor Christy said, "There is a limited number of rooms available at the government rate, if you get one you get one if you don't you don't.”

With Obama taking an entourage of 3,000 to India and Nancy Pelosi using a military jet to get from D.C. to California weekly at a cost of over $20k per trip they have a lot of nerve trying to sully Governor Christy with this petty partisan bull S#%*.

The Sins of Jimmy Carter

The world will be a safer place when former President Carer is no longer able to speak or write. In addition to being possibly the worst President in the 20th century Carter has continued to harm this nation and the world since leaving office. Carter is endlessly lauded for Habitat for Humanity which is actually a wasteful inefficient attempt at providing needed housing. This organization spends an average of $100K per family helped and those helped still have a mortgage to pay when they move in to their "habitat".

Carter gave away the Panama Canal. America built the canal and losing control of it could have a devastating impact if the control ends up in the wrong hands. Carter decreed the canal would leave American hands on HIS BIRTHDAY in 1979.

Carter, without being asked to do so, inserted himself into America's negotiations with North Korea during the Clinton Administration. This undermined the "hard-line" Clinton stated and weakened our position. Thanks to his interference and the incompetence of Madeline Albright North Korea has nuclear weapons now.

Carter systematically undermined the Shah of Iran and allowed Islamic extremists to take control of Iran. This, Carters biggest sin, set the stage for the rise of Islamo-fascism, the September 11 attacks and the war on terror that we will be fighting for the next 50 years.

Way to go Jimmy!

Algore, More than a Bore

Al Gore should be universally shunned.

Despite being groomed for public office from childhood Gore is in no way a remarkable individual. Al Gore did manage to graduate college but then enlisted as he was eligible for the draft. dropped out of law school. When he was running for President supporters claims he was brilliant and George Bush a dunce. If you pointed out that Bush actually got his 2nd degree, an MBA from Harvard while Gore did not they just refused to believe Gore didn't have a law degree.

Gore served in Viet Nam as a journalist from January 2, 1971 until his Honorable discharge from the Army in May 1971. Gore then attended Vanderbilt University Divinity School from 1971 to 1972 leaving without a degree. After another short stint of journalism Gore attended Vanderbilt University Law School in 1974. Gore did not complete law school either. In 1976 when his father's former seat in the House was about to be vacated Gore ran for and won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Finally Gore found something he could finish, a campaign. He won the next three elections in 1978, 1980, and 1982 twice running unopposed, thanks a lot Tennessee. In 1984 Gore won a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Gore fell backwards into the Vice-Presidency and spent 8 years attending funerals and giving wooden speeches.

As a presidential candidate three different Al Gores showed up for debates with George W Bush. The first Al Gore was a childish cheat, sighing loudly and rolling his eyes when his opponent had the floor. After this pathetic showing Gore was on his best behavior in the second match and came off weak. Consequently he tried to act tough in the third debate leading to a comical moment when he walked up to Bush who looked at Gore and nodded, seeming to say "yes, I'm speaking but I'll be with you in a minute".

Then Al Gore tried to steal the 2000 election. After conceding defeat Gore learned that the race in Florida had been lost by a margin small enough to possibly be overcome. Some dirty tricks in my own Palm Beach County helped where 15,000 Republicans who voted for the GOP Senate candidate who lost statewide didn't vote for Bush, a mathematical anomaly that can only be explained by ballot tampering.
Although Gore failed to overturn the election he and Democrats managed to convince themselves that they were the ones who had an election stolen. Sine then Democrats have stolen the elections in Washington state and the senate election in Minnesota.

Finally, Al Gores latest sin against humanity is his specious Global Warming hoax. Gore has become a multi-millionaire touting junk science, selling carbon credits to serve that junk science. All the while demanding that others live green while he flies on private jets and lives in a home using 10 times the energy of an average family.

In short Gore has undermined Americans confidence in our electoral system, diminished our economy by pushing policies that increase the cost of energy and gotten fat and rich by doing so. Actually Al Gore is both more and less than a bore.

Obama Channels Stalin

Obama touting the success of his "reset" of America's relationship with Russia is a lot like the easiest girl in high school touting her "popularity". President Obama who has not hesitated to bow to other leaders and apologize for America's existence appears to think that he can have diplomatic success by ingratiating himself with other leaders. However, quoting Stalin by referring to WWII as "The Patriotic War" was a bit over the top.

The Democrats have falsely blamed Bush for an erosion of our "relations" with Russia. Any space between the two nations was actually caused by bad actions on the part of Putin. Trifles like invading Georgia and selling weapons to Iran. Why should Putin or his puppet Medvedev behave when they know any outrageous thing they do will be blamed on Bush.

I suppose the Obama Administration has to point to some diplomatic success. Since Obama has taken office most of America relationships with our best allies have suffered. Also, the Obama policy of reaching out to the bad guys, Iran, North Korea and others has not born any fruit. Well he may have sold a few more books. These liberal peace-nicks never learn. You simply cannot schmooze a dictator into being a good actor on the world stage. Of, course, I am assuming, maybe falsely, that Obama wants world leaders to behave. Our President may have another agenda.

Loan ago I suggested that, if elected President, Barack Obama would be the first black Jimmy Carter. Since then Obama was elected, the American economic situation continued to erode and unemployment increased sharply. Now Obama has had his "Amy Moment". In a recent press conference, the first in over 300 days, the President used one of his daughters to demonstrate his dedication to solving this problem. "Did you plug the hole Daddy?" Will go down in history as a prime example of lame leadership.

Obama Brings in THE Expert

If you need to tell the American People a lie and a big one at that you need to bring in an expert to close the sale. Congressman Joe Sestack said the White House offered him a job to stay out of the Democrat primary for Pennsylvania's senate seat currently held by Arlen Specter. That sort of back room horse trading did not sit well with the public and multiple questions have been asked. What was the job? Who made the offer? As the cacophony of questions increased the Obama Administration realized that their statements that "nothing illegal or unethical had occurred" wasn't going to quash this controversy. President Obama did not answer these questions but announced that a "statement from his administration" would be forth coming.

On the Friday afternoon before Memorial Day Week-end that statement was rolled out. The "job" offered was suddenly an unpaid consultants position. The offer that Sestack said came from the "White House" had been filtered through former President Clinton. Clearly this is not what actually happened. It is a shame that Joe Sestack has had to agree to this public sham. Also one has to ask what did the Obama administration offer Bill Clinton to get his assistance in this attemp to "Punk" America.

I would have gone another way. Since it appears this all took place prior to Joe Sestack entering the primary it may not be illegal. If they had gotten him to drop out of an election the way Bill Clinton got Bob Torricelli to step aside to allow room for Frank Lautenberg, that is a blatant illegal action. Why didn't we ever investigate that turn of events? Perhaps that is why Clinton was the go to guy for this latest cover up of totally unethical and possibly illegal electioneering.

Specter of Arlen Haunts No More

One of my disagreements with the Bush Administration was it's support of Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey six years ago. Now at long last the nation is free of this party hopping, self serving, political hack! I do not support people staying in office for decades even when they are conservatives. It seems our representatives become less and less responsive to the electorate the longer they lounge in Washington, DC. I have my doubts about Rand Paul but agree with him on the solution to most of the countries ills, TERM LIMITS!

Arlen Specter was elected to the Senate in 1980 after an already long political career. He has been no statesman and the Senate and the nation will be better off without him. That may sound harsh Arlen but you had a good long run, you are a cancer survivor, relax and enjoy your retirement.

I would support a VAT Tax ONLY if it replaced an Income Tax. However, I am surrounded by retired liberal neighbors who vote for all the "government goodies" that those of us still working pay for through our taxes. I would enjoy seeing them begin to contribute again, involuntarily with a tax on every matinee movie, early bird buffet and seniors cruise they purchase. It would be especially sweet as this would be done to them by the politico's they support.

Your Heart May Be In The Right Place...

I apologize in advance for the slightly harsh sound of the following statement directed at all my liberal friends and acquaintances.

Your heart may be in the right place but your head is up your a**.

Some times you need to be a little harsh to get your point across especially when the emotionally mushy thinking of a minority of Americans threatens our future. President Bush coined the term "Compassionate Conservative". Lets look how that turned out for our nation. The conservative GWB brought us tax cuts that brought our economy back from the Clinton recession and allowed it to bounce back quickly from the September 11th attacks. Those tax breaks fueled 60 consecutive months of job growth. The media endlessly portrayed the Bush economy as weak and the tax breaks as benefiting only the "rich". The media completely overlooked the facts. The economy was strong and the Bush tax cuts moved more of the tax burden to the nations top earners, increasing the percentage of Americans who paid no income tax at all.

President Bush had less success with his "compassionate" policies. The Medicare drug benefit was very compassionate and something Democrats had promised for two decades. I was against it, AARP was for it and the President proposed it and got it passed. It was a huge expensive new entitlement and we are stuck with it for eternity even as it accelerates the bankruptcy of Medicare. Any thank you's from our senior citizens? I haven't heard any.

In an effort to beat back the endless media charges of heartlessness the Bush Administration threw millions after millions down the post Katrina rat hole that is Louisiana. Bush was too kind to point out that the folks next door in Mississippi managed through the same storm without blaming their own lack of preparation and execution of emergency measures on the President. Every American tax payer will be paying for the government largess ladled on Louisiana for years to come. Although the voters of Louisiana were gullible enough to re-elect their incompetent Senator and mayor of New Orleans they did choose a better Governor and might eventually recover from Katrina.

Hysteria is seldom productive. The desire to "do something" that is so urgent that we do not consider whether the "something" will make the situation better or worse is always a mistake. When 51% of the American people voted for "Change" without understanding exactly what sort of changes we would get resulted in the mistake which resides at 1600 Pensylvania Ave NW.

No Boom Obama?

That title may sound harsh but it is stolen from an old SNL skit. Dan Ackroyd and Jane Curtain did this hysterical Point Counterpoint bit where Dan always opened his comments with "Jane you ignorant slut". If only Ms. Garofalo was half as funny.

Rosie O'donnell has a radio show, who knew? O'Donnell recently took a career risk and had Jeanane Garofalo as a guest. This was either brave or stupid as Ms. G was instrumental in shepherding the long slow death of Air America failure. These two first directed their uninformed venom on Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Ms. G described Hasselbeck as "anti-intellectual" and "not compassionate". Ms. G went on to say that Hasselback has a "ridiculous take on religion"and is a "very limited person". Rather uncool to publicly bad mouth someone who isn't there to defend herself. I don't know a whole lot about Ms Hasselbeck but I have observed that she is something these two will never be, a lady.

These two shrews then moved on to Rush Limbaugh and his listeners and that is when they began talking about me. Ms O referred to Rush as a "junkie" and asked how he could have such an important voice after being exposed as a "junkie". First words have meaning and a junkie is a drug addict, usually addicted to heroin, someone who smokes crack might also qualify. A middle aged man who because of back pain became addicted to prescription pain killers would not qualify as a "junkie". Ms. O & Ms. G were exhibiting a shocking lack of compassion, an accusation they had just leveled at Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Hypocrites!

So, since Ms. G has stated her opinion of me I would like to express my opinion of her. First Ms. G is a liar. This isn't really an opinion because she did actually lie making my statement a fact. Ms. G said prior to our invasion of Iraq which she opposed that if the American troops were welcomed as "Liberators" she would apologize to President Bush for her strident opposition. We were in fact welcomed as liberators. It didn't last a real long time but it did happen, You may recall film of an Iraq man slapping a mural of Sadam Hussain with his sandal saying "Thank you Mr. Bush!".

Ms G may not know what makes someone a fan of Rush Limbaugh but I don't know what made the guys who make 24 cast her as a second and unnecessary Cloe? It was truly bazaar, she was a second Cloe, a little meaner but basically the very same character. Jeanane, you are not unaccomplished. I thought the truth about Cats & Dogs was a charming film. However, you are not many of the things you think you are. You are not an intellectual despite the Tina Fey glasses. You are not a kind or thoughtful person. What you are Ms G is a very angry woman who never hesitates to be vulgar.

I am sorry that you live in a world where you are forced to maintain a lower weight than your body naturally gravitates toward. I know that it must be very hard for you to live your life never feeling full. Please either give it up and go back to being chubby (look at Rosie) or fill that void with something else. Religion, or at least a firm belief in the existence of a creator is in America. It is woven into every ideal that was used to create our great union. The Jews were Gods chosen people but the American people chose God.

Our founding fathers were not all Christians, some were Jewish and some claimed no specific religion but they shared a common vision. They created for us a nation that allowed freedom of religion among many freedoms. The single guiding principle was that power comes not from government but from the people. Government was a necessary evil which was to have only the powers the governed would allow.

We should really try to get back to the founding principles and get government out of our daily lives.

This Christmas we have had to put up with al-Qa'ida trying to blow us up and atheists trying to deny us our reason for the season. I can't begin to understand what convoluted thought process allows people to believe that killing innocent strangers of another faith will bring them closer to their God. The atheist are another story. They are like the obnoxious older child who couldn't wait to tell you there was no Santa Clause. They feel superior because they know better, at least they think they know better. They are like the woman I knew who rushed to my side one night when I entered a big party. I was surprised to see her hurry my way we weren't very close but she had a purpose. This woman wanted to be the first to tell me that another acquaintance of ours had died the night before. I am still taken back a bit by her enthusiasm. Who wants to be the bearer of bad news? Well, atheists I guess.

Atheists want to assure you that your faith in God is misplaced. The thing that gives your life purpose, guides your behavior and brings you comfort is a fake. How do atheist know there is not God? They say God does not exist because His existence cannot be proven. If only everyone would be as skeptical of man-made global warning. Being unable to prove something does not automatically prove the opposite. There are many unanswered questions in our world. We do not know all there is to know about how our world was created, how it all works and when and how it will all cease to exist.

So, the ACLU makes us push our Nativity scene to the side to make way for "Heathens Greetings" and billboards stating "Yes Virginia there is no God". If you want to spread the news that there is no God wouldn't April first be a better choice? Atheists believe faithful people have been duped so they should run their ads on April Fools Day. "Believe in God? April Fools!" That would be much more appropriate but unnecessary, people lose faith every day without any prompting. Christ Himself lost faith for a moment on the cross when he asked "Why have You forsaken me?"

If atheists are so confident in their anti-faith and want to open the eyes of others they are free to do so. However to insist on doing so during the most joyous time of the year, well I'm sorry but you are just being a jerk, and that is something which can be proven.

To all of you who rail against Fox News and claim that they are not "fair and balanced" step off! I know that it is shocking to you aficionados of CBS ABC CNN and worst of all MSNBC to hear the conservative view on any subject but 40% of this nation identify themselves as conservatives. Firstly with the acquisition of John Stossel Fox News now has all of the Conservatives in broadcast media but that is only because they are not welcome at other networks. Secondly I can prove Fox News is fair and balanced. If they are not reporting the liberal side too why do I have to mute and fast forward thru the opinions of Bob Beckel, Geraldo Rivera, Ellis Hennigan, Geraldine Ferraro and Ellen Ratner (whom I like to say "puts the "rat" in Democrat" since the day she said she hoped we would lose in Iraq to prevent President Bush being reelected).

Try having opposing views to your own shoved in your face daily as conservatives have done for 30 years and you'll may develop some perspective. At any moment if I am watching a movie or TV show, listening to music or reading anything a liberal poison dart may strike. I once read an anti President Bush comment in a restaurant review in the Palm Beach Post. After the debacle of the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui's any one who was paying attention knows that a criminal trial for a terrorists is a bad idea. Moussaoui turned his trial into a circus When we tried "the blind sheik" we spent millions, gave a maniac a platform to spew his venom and released to the world the names of all the terrorists we knew about. On that list was Usama bin Laden and I'm sure he appreciated the "heads up" that we provided.

Our judicial system only works if all parties have some skin in the game. When you have a defendant who does not care if he is convicted he can really throw a wrench into the works. When Khalid Sheik Mohammed's was captured in Pakistan he said he would not tell us anything "until he arrived in New York and had an attorney". The Bush Administration had the good sense to not send him to New York. Instead, we splashed some water in his face and he sang like a canary. We got a lot of good information from KSM that allowed us to capture other terrorists and save innocent lives.

The Obama Administration lacks that "good sense". Egg-headed intellectual types are notorious for having high minded ideas that NEVER work well in the real world. KSM will use this opportunity to put the United States on trial and terrorists don't play fair. KSM will lie, cheat and do anything he can come up with to use the world stage Eric Holder has given him. The trial could take years and the expense will be unprecedented. New York will be more of a target for terrorists then ever.

Cereal Bowl Backlash

I don't eat cereal, I'm not a child. I remember a study a few years back that claimed "people who have cereal for breakfast are healthier than those who do not". Of course they are! Not because of the cereal but because they do what is expected of them. Cereal is for breakfast so that is what they eat. I assure you these are the people who wait an hour after eating before they swim. They look both ways before they cross the street they are going to outlive their less boring counterparts.

But I digress. It isn't cereal eaters that have got me steamed it is cereal bowls. I have lived for over fifteen years with a man who likes to have a bowl of cereal before bed nearly every night. It has never been much of a problem. I have no idea why a man who conscientiously rinses out his wine glass and places it in the sink drainer each evening has to leave his cereal bowl in the sink. There it sits the next morning with it's little spoon and the inevitable traces of left behind sweetened milk. Oh well, such is my lot in life and if this had been the extent of it you would never have heard a complaint from me, but things have gotten worse, much worse.

I now have three cereal eating people in my home. One person is very likely to rinse her bowl and spoon and place them in the dishwasher. Two can't seem to do this simple task. So, now when I get up in the morning I have a bowl to rinse and put in the dishwasher and if I go off to work or out to run errands there is a very good chance another bowl will appear in the sink while I am gone. No matter how clean I leave the kitchen there is a good chance that when I return a bowl and a spoon will be there to greet me. With a small puddle of milk just mocking me. Damn you cereal bowl, damn you to hell.

There are some actions that are just beyond the pale like drugging and sexually abusing a thirteen-year-old girl. Roman Polanski took a child to a party at Jack Nicholson's house and gave her Quaaludes and alcohol. Polanski took advantage of the girl having sexual intercourse and sodomizing the child. These acts are not alleged, Polanski plead guilty to a reduced charge of "illegal sex with a minor"in 1977.

This was a shameful situation all around. Shame on that child's parents for allowing her to go anywhere alone with Polanski. Shame on Jack Nicholson for condoning such behavior in his home. Shame on all the enlightened nitwits who defend Polanski. Apparently they cannot grasp the concept that a good director can also be a monster and the work does not excuse the evil.

Polanski fled the United States to avoid arrest and incarceration for his heinous acts. He has lived well for 32 years in France where it is considered unsophisticated to hold artist to any standards of decency. Now he has been arrested and there is a chance that he will finally receive the punishment he deserves. In a bit of irony the much celebrated Polanski was taken when he appeared to accept an award.

In a country where 90% of Americans believe in God and 93% celebrate Christmas and 85% consider themselves to be Christians it is illegal to pray in public school. Most schools do not allow Christmas carols to be sung and even outlaw any mention of Christmas using the term "winter break" instead. Liberals and the ACLU have spent decades trying to force any demonstrations of faith from the public square. It has been acceptable to celebrate religions other than Christianity like say Islam or to celebrate Kwanzaa but the religion a vast majority of Americans follow is verboten.

Inch by inch our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and religion have been taken from us. Freedom of religion has morphed into freedom from religion forcing a gag order on the faithful. Keep your faith on the low down, shut up so that your beliefs won't offend someone who does not share your faith. At the same time don't complain when other beliefs are foisted upon you and your children. Some beliefs are allowed to be celebrated like "choice". "Choice" is good, women must have the right to choose. Homosexuality also must be celebrated in all it's forms, gay lesbian (are lesbians not gay what exactly is the difference besides gender?) trans gender (whatever the hell that is) and all the rest of that crowd. Speaking out against abortion earns you ridicule and can keep you off the Supreme Court. Daring to say that homosexuality isn't good for America is just "Hate Speech" pure and simple.

Although teachers were recently criminally prosecuted for saying grace over a meal where no students were present and even secular holiday tunes like "Here comes Santa Clause" cannot be sung by our nations school children a new religion is apparently encouraged. Last night South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson voiced the opinion of millions of Americans when he shouted "You Lie" during President Obama's speech. Truth is the President statement that his health care plan will not cover illegals is probably untrue for many reasons and a statement need not be a lie to deceive. If the President was saying that his health care plan won't cover illegals because his immigration plan will make illegals legal that is still a deception. However, what and where is the President's health care plan? The answer is there isn't one. There are several bills floating around but none was authored by the Obama administration and if he is supporting one of these bills he has yet to signal which one. Obama had the nerve to tell the Republicans "If you have a better plan where is it?" Too bad for him several members had copies of their bills with them which they waved in response to a question he must have meant to be hypothetical.

The demonstrated shock and outrage is excessive and hypocritical. Media pundits and politicians have repeated over and over another lie that this outburst is "unprecedented". The only thing that makes the occurrence "unprecedented" is that a single voice rang out rather than the crowd of boos heard from Democrats at the 2004 state of the union speech given by President Bush. For eight years it was considered brillant and or fashionable to call the President a liar Now it is suddenly beyond the pale to do such a disrespectful thing.

This double standard is nothing new. Democrats can get away with stupid statements, tax evasion, criminality and extra marital activities for which Republicans are forced to apologise repeatedly until they are forced to resign. Republicans are criticized unless they play by the Marquess of Queensberry rules and Democrats get a pass from their party, their supporters and the media.

The bipartisan laugh Obama got when he said "there are a lot of details to be worked out" was actually the most embarrassing moment of the speech. Yep, our President told us that he can provide insurance coverage to more people with no loss of quality for less money. If that isn't a lie I don't know what is.

Heaven knows the lame stream media will never call them on it. Well if Bill Clinton can question the meaning of the word "is" then more complicated concepts like patriotism or experience can certainly have murky meanings.

When a Democrat presidential candidate has served in the United States military it is important and when he has not it is of no importance. Bill Clinton was an actual "draft dodger" but he was the Democrats presidential candidate so military service suddenly had nothing to to with being Americas Commander in Chief. Clinton ran against two true military heroes. George H W Bush and Bob Dole. Then when John Kerry was the candidate his four MONTHS in Viet Nam was essential experience for anyone who would dare to be our President and the two years George W. Bush spent in the Texas Air National Guard was worthless.

Apparently it was acceptable for Mr. Obama to list the groups and individuals he claims are telling lies about his alleged health care plan. It is apparently also fine for him to threaten opponents by promising to "call them out". It seems to be okay for the head of his party, Howard Dean, to say that Americans who disagree with Obama are "trying to bring down the country" tho to Dean's credit he later claimed he never made such a statement, despite the moment being caught on film. It was perfectly acceptable for Speaker of the Democrat run House to mention swastikas when describing the Americans attending town hall meetings. Also, any American who dares to disagree with any policy of the Obama administration can be called a racist.

One of the chief arguments against electing George W Bush was his lack of "experience" despite him being in his second term as governor of Texas. First he ran against a life time politician who had never authored a significant piece of legislation and who had been less than influential as Vice-President. Then he defeated another life time politician who had never authored a significant piece of legislation and who had been known to usually be more interested in leaving the Senate early than on what was going on there. Apparently Kerry was happy to rest in the shade of Sen Kennedy's plus-size shadow.

Despite Obama's total lack of executive experience and military experience his ability to be President of the United States of America was never questioned. Governor Palin's ability to be Vice-president however was debated endlessly. Personally I'd rather see Floyd the barber in line to replace the President ahead of Joe Biden. Biden's secret service code name is rumored to be "assassination insurance".

Obama to Our Greatest Generation - Drop Dead

Those of you who served your country in WWII may get a second opportunity to die for your country. Only 43% of you voted for President Obama in 2008 and he has no incentive to help you make it to 2012. Consequently the President plans to reduce health care costs by discouraging the elderly from needlessly extending their lives.

In a recent town hall meeting the President was given a scenario in which a 100 year-old woman needed and received a pacemaker. The woman is now 105 and going strong. Her daughter asked Mr Obama if that could happen under his plan and his response was "in the case of someone who is 100 perhaps it would be better to give them a pain pill". Now I'm no doctor but I am pretty sure that, unlike a pacemaker, a pain pill would not keep a human heart beating.

It should come as no surprise that a man who was comfortable supporting a bill that made it legal to allow the babies born alive in late term abortions to be set aside until they died would have no problem telling Grandma or Grandpa "Lets just make you comfortable, curing you is just not cost effective".

President's Promises, Like His Pitches, Fall Short

Some Presidents can throw like a pro and others throw like a beauty queen.

When the Democrats insisted that the "Stimulus" bill had to be passed immediately the President said that it would create two to three million jobs. That promise was quickly altered to "create or save" two million jobs. This was a brilliant move because there is no way to prove how many jobs have been "saved". This week the President tells us that the oh so urgent stimulus bill was never expected to have an immediate impact. "It was always a two year plan" I believe was the exact quote but unlike our media I have a memory. President Obama and his team said that without this bill passed immediately unemployment would hit 9%. Well, we are over 9% now with the bill passed. Obama and Biden blather on about how they inherited so many problems. Well they were both in the Senate before they ran if they didn't want the job they shouldn't have run.

Now, about that pitch. First the president strides out amid cheers and boos in a pair of jeans which have a crease ironed into them??? Anticipating the boos the President is wearing a White Sox jacket like oh sure, he is getting booed but it's because of the White Sox jacket not his pathetic handling of our economy. Then he throws a pitch so pathetic that the FOX camera is forced to avert it's eyes from the landing near home plate. What is the story with this guy? He can only play basketball? Obama's attempts at golf are said to be laughable and remember he tried bowling during his campaign. I got a higher bowling score on my first game than he did and the difference was he was 46 and I was 6.

Months ago I met a bartender who was a Hillary supporter. He said "Well, you have to admit universal health care would be a good thing". I told him no it would be a very bad plan and gave him a few examples of "health care" in England. People waiting till they go blind in one eye to get treatment for macular degeneration. An Englishman super gluing his tooth in place since there are no dentists. Imagine if we had universal bar service. The government would set his pay, tell him what to charge and he would not have the right to refuse service to anyone. Tips would be illegal because it might mean those who could afford to tip might get better service. The lazy bartender would make the exact same amount as the hard working one. Now would service improve do you think? Would being a bartender be more enjoyable?

January 23, 1947 – July 7, 2009

Donald Anderson was, to put it simply, one of the good guys. He was no slave to fashion, no citizen of the world, I’m pretty sure he never got a manicure. Don was the type of man we see less these days a good old American guy. Don was raised by two wonderful people; Bill and Lavergne Anderson, to honor his parents love his country and behave like a gentleman. Dons’ mother’s brownies with white frosting were always his favorite treat. If any of the women in his home planned to make brownies he would ask them to use his mother’s recipe. Don and his brother Bill both served our nation in the armed forces. Don always knew he could count on his big brother and Bill knew he might get a late night I love you bro call at any time.

Don had his own ideas about things but he could be won over. When he walked into his college dorm room for the first time and saw his roommate playing a guitar he thought “What have I gotten myself into?” By the end of the first semester he had made a friend and developed a lifelong appreciation for Sonny & Cher’s “I’ve got you Babe. Don had a great sense of humor but didn’t like to draw attention to himself. He was a thoughtful person who seemed content to observe and listen and consider. Then Don would inject a comment or two that were always insightful, interesting and well worth hearing. Don was really quite brilliant and I deeply regret that I didn’t spend more time discussing current events with him.

Don was a kind and loving husband. He had about a number of ways of saying Deanne. When he was teasing, chiding or pretending to be shocked he would always say Deanne instead of De. I can hear his voice saying Deanne and shock, teasing or whatever inflection he chose you could hear the love quite clearly. Don was very protective of Deanne he did all the stinky jobs like cleaning the shells, cleaning out De’s lunch containers for her or seeing to any of the hundreds of details he took upon himself to make her life easier. Don did all the ironing and most of the gift buying. He took time to notice what all of their friends and family liked and was always on the lookout for the very thing that would delight one of the lucky people on his gift list. Don was an excellent gift wrapper and even recycled last year’s Christmas cards into lovely tags for this year’s gifts.

Don had a special relationship with his sister in law, Margaret Quinn. He was ever vigilant in seeking out Miami Dolphin memorabilia for her. Margret wasn’t shy about asking if he had anything for her either. She would sometimes tease the gifts out of him and was always thrilled with whatever he had found. Margaret’s child like enthusiasm made the gift giving as enjoyable for Don as the receiving was for Margaret. Today they are together again and looking over all the loved ones they have left behind, just for a time.

Some men might think twice about marrying a woman with two little girls but Don saw Peggy and Lori as the bonus blessings they were. Even during the teen years when they overfilled and broke the washing machine on a regular basis, sure he complained, loudly sometimes but you could tell that he really enjoyed being the guy who could fix the washing machine. Don has been a loving father from the first and the blessing of two little girls was multiplied by the gift of two grandsons.

Matthew and Steven can tell you what a wonderful loving grandfather their Poppop has been. Don taught Stephen to play cribbage as soon as he was old enough to hold a hand of cards so well that Stephen was able to beat his Uncle Bill the first time they played. Thursday night Steven and Uncle Bill played cribbage again and with PopPop looking over his shoulder Stephen didn’t just win, he “skunked” his uncle.

Matt and Don were co-conspirators in a sense. During the family trips to Mitchells Sand Castle in Sanibel they would go shelling during the low tide. The low tide was often between midnight and 3am. While everyone else slept they would slip out of the hotel like cat burglars, bundled up, carrying flashlights to collect the shells that were underwater the other 23 hours of the day. I am sure Matt will treasure those memories over the most exotic shells they discovered.
Don somehow spent his time in the army in Colorado and learned to ski. Don and Deanne got involved in the local Snow Ski club and went on a number of ski trips over the years. Most people who fly from Florida to ski country take steps to deal with the difference in altitude and humidity. Not Don, we were all having lunch on the mountain once and while I was gulping water to recover from a morning of skiing in the thin dry air Don was enjoying a Miller Lite. He had a tee shirt that said “Never too drunk to ski”

Deanne and Don enjoyed diving, snorkeling and boating. Many of us here were or are members of the Flotilla Club and the Palm Beach Fin Divers. Some people who dive just look but Don didn’t like coming up empty handed. He speared fish and caught lobster. Don found bottles and shells if you’ve been to the Anderson home you know how good he was. Deep down I know Don thought he would find sunken treasure one day I saw it in his eyes once when we were in Key West looking at treasure in some little museum. I always hoped he would come across at least one gold doubloon but for Don it wasn’t what he had just found that was most exciting to him; it was always what he would find next. I dressed rather brightly today because of a complaint Don voiced twenty years ago at the Fin Diver Christmas party. He just didn’t see why so many women wore black when they dressed up and he preferred to see us in bright colors.

Don’s collecting went way beyond shells. He collected cookie jars, Marilyn Monroe bottles of wine and many things of interest and value. Don was telling me once about his Tweety Bird collection and how the value was increasing. Initially I thought he was pulling my leg, but over the years he bought and sold so many things at a profit I have to admit he knew that he was talking about. I think it was the very concept of finding value where others might overlook it that drew Don to be such a collector. When Don wasn’t finding beautiful things he was creating them. His mosaics are really quite wonderful and I am pleased that I have a lovely example of Don’s artistic talent in my home which I will always treasure.

Don was incredibly intelligent and had a natural mathematical gift. Over the years he developed systems to win at Jai Ali and the lottery. Unfortunately these schemes required huge financial investment and he ever got the chance to fully test them. Recently he found black jack to be a suitable outlet for his skill and desire to gamble. Although, judging from his success at the black jack tables you couldn’t really call it gambling. De’s brother Jim and family friend Gary can tell you firsthand about Don’s cruise ship casino success and perhaps explain why he referred to them as “the girls”.

From the moment I heard the terrible and shocking news of Don’s death the same phrase kept running through my mind. What will we do without Don? As I pictured future events, parties and get-togethers wondering if they would even be possible I kept thinking what will we do without Don? I don’t know the answer to that question. I don’t know why this wonderful man was taken from us so abruptly and at such a young age.

I do know that he was loved and admired, I know that he will never be forgotten and that he will be missed so very terribly missed.

Well, Michael Jackson is gone. We don't know yet exactly what caused his death just a short time prior to his 51st birthday. Michael was planning a tour which promised a dance move that would amaze us all. Unless there is some film of rehersals that is a dance move the world will never see. I hope that Michael was truly innocent of the charges that were dismissed against him and that he has found eternal peace.

Outraged at Last!

Finally, finally the President is outraged over what is going on in Iran. First stealing an election that was not open or fair to begin with (the unelected Mullahs got to pick the candidates). Second, they announced the results immediately when it should have taken days to count all the ballots. Next, the results themselves were highly suspect. All pre-election polls predicted a loss for Ahmadinejad or at least a very close election but the results announced were a landslide for the incumbent. Then we began to hear that there were more votes than voters in some providence's but that is nothing new for a politician from Chicago.

When Iranian citizens began to protest in the streets they were tear gassed, beaten, and some were killed. President Obama's spokesman called this a "debate". Worse still, the President himself said there was "very little difference between the two candidates". That is not what people risking their lives to achieve democracy want to hear from the President of the United States. However, it is what we can expect from our current President who has no true core principles.

Now, finally our President is using words like outraged but as the mullahs close their iron fist on the citizens of Iran it is too little too late.

Time for Democrats to Change their Name Again?

In the not too distant past the Democrat Party began calling itself the Democratic Party. This was not announced as a name change they just pretended that the party name was "Democratic" all along. In the more distant past it was the Democrats who supported spreading democracy and so called "Nation Building". Back then Republicans were the isolationists who thought that we should "mind our business". There has been a complete reversal of roles.

During the 18 month debate about Iraq (dubbed the "rush to war" by lefties) one of the arguments put forward by Democrats was essentially "Democracy, it's not for everyone". It was said that the people of Iraq were not ready or able to create and maintain a democracy. President Bush and I disagreed. Bush put his presidency on the line to provide democratic governments to the people of Afghanistan and Iraq. If both these fledgling democracies survive President Bush will have freed more people than Abraham Lincoln.

Meanwhile, his successor will not choose a side between the people of Iran and the Mullahs who first stole an election and are now attempting to force their citizens into accepting those results. The Mullah's first tried to shut down all media coverage of the election results and the ensuing protests. When texts and tweeters kept communication possible the Mullah's got serious about dealing with descent in their nation. Protesters have been beaten, tear gassed and even killed in the streets. Many of the protesters carry signs written in English, clearly a cry for help from the west.

If only President Obama were more like President Kennedy who in his inaugural said..."Let every nation know whether it wishes us well or ill that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to to insure the survival and the success of liberty." The difference between the two men could not be more clear. One had principals and the other has panache.

President Obama’s recently gave a historic (apparently everything the guy does is historic) speech in Cairo. Like President Bush in similar speeches, Obama went out of his way to praise Muslims, but to the best of my knowledge Bush didn’t just make stuff up. President Obama described himself as a “student of history” and went on to tell some real whoppers.

According to Mr. Obama we can thank the Muslims for arches, spires, poetry, music, algebra, calligraphy the compass, printing, our understanding of how disease spreads and can be healed and most remarkably their religious tolerance and racial equality. Where does he get this stuff? Remember that there were no Muslims until the 7th century and the Romans had arches and spires before the birth of Christ. Poetry, I’ll give them that one if Kahill Gabran was a Muslim but on music I’m doubtful since some Muslim communities forbid musical instruments. I’ll throw in calligraphy, who really cares after all what the impact a lack of Islam would have had on the world’s wedding invitations. Algebra and the magnetic compass are a little more useful and I assure you neither were a gift to the world from Islam. The magnetic compass was a Chinese invention a version of which might also have been discovered by Central Americans. The first people known to use Algebra were the ancient Babylonians and the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Chinese and the Indians all had their versions of this mathematical process before Islam existed. If Islam ever had any innovations in disease control or printing they didn’t make a big splash in the world with their insights.

Finally, religious tolerance and racial equality, give me a break! I have often heard from smart people I trust that Islam is a religion that has often been spread by the sword. I know that there are countries on our planet today where the punishment for converting from Islam to any other religion is death. That seems to suppoprt the "spread by the sword" claim.

Hey Mr, President, how about saying something positive about the country that elected you just for a welcome change of pace.

President Bush, God love him, made his share of mistakes but he never buzzed Manhatten. Bush never asked American's suffering through tough economic times to "tighten their belts" while he was serving $100 a pound Japanese beef every Wednesday night and spending $329,000 to take a photo of his airplane. America had to suffer through eight years of liberals acting out their Bush Derangement Syndrome but Bush never sent several hundred New Yorkers running for their lives in the middle of their work day.

Like many national debates fueled by our wonderful media the entire premise is wrong. America always starts with a worthy and perfectly valid idea. Then time and the endless efforts of "progressives" contort that idea to imbecility. Consider the idea that "cruel and unusual" punishment should not be allowed. Sounds great but look how that idea has been manipulated over the years. One method after another of inflicting the death penalty has been eliminated. Newer and more humane methods were invented only to later be deemed cruel and unusual. We are currently at the point where death penalty opponents argue that lethal injection is cruel because we cannot be sure the recipient does not feel some pain or discomfort. They no longer bother to argue the "unusual" part since executions are so rare they feel unusual no longer applies. Also, this obscures the meaning of the phrase. You see, we never meant to outlaw punishment that was cruel, just punishment that was unusually cruel.

Now, thanks to the media and our new President we are calling mildly rough interrogation methods torture. I assure you I have both received and have doled out worst punishment simply by growing up with four siblings. Imagine the horror of being told that a caterpillar would be placed in your cell. The offending bug was never introduced, just threatened. Imagine the impact being lightly smacked on the cheek, or grabbed by your lapels or pressed suddenly up against a wall could have on your self esteem. If you've lead a normal life you shouldn't have to imagine these things you can just remember what it was like when you encountered a school yard bully in elementary school, and that kid actually had a bug in most cases.

Waterboarding is deemed torture by President Obama but splashing water on the face of a terrorists is not my idea of torture. To me torture would have to be something more serious like being forced to decide between burning to death or jumping from an eighty or ninety story window. I would consider if torture if a man bit my lip and held that lip painfully between his teeth while he raped me or if he left me trapped in submerged car to die. There is a limit to the amount of empathy I can offer people who are willing to bomb a pizza parlor filled with women and children, fly a plane full of innocent folks into a building or hack off the head of a young man for his great sin of being born an American and a Jew.

Torture? Really Mr. President.

No problem we'll scrap it for a much lesser conflict, the "overseas contingency". We needn't worry about terrorist attacks. Even if there is one the Obama administration plans to call it a "man caused disaster". Really? If you want to discuss a disaster lets discuss Janet Nipolitano. As a British newspaper recently asked "How did this woman get her job?" Would it be too unkind to say the best thing about her is her haircut?

GIFT GAFFES

I'm sure many of us expected some "rookie mistakes" from the Obama administration and we haven't been disappointed. I do think we could have expected better from Hillary Clinton. The Obama's have very little experience thinking about others. They talk a good game about helping others but have pretty much looked after their own interests primarily. Mrs Clinton however was the First Lady for eight years and should know a thing or two about appropriate gifts for foreign dignitaries.

When America's best ally, Great Britain sent Prime Minister Brown for a state visit the Obama's lack of experience was blatantly obvious. President Obama chose to unilaterally omit the traditional joint press conference, without advising the British PM. Bit of a nasty surprise that! Unaware of the diss to come the Browns chose their gifts for the Obama family carefully. The Obama girls received outfits from a trendy British children's shop and an assortment of British children's books. A thoughtful and personal gift. The gift to President Obama was a pen case made from wood taken from the sister ship of the MS Resolute. A gift with historical significance. In return the Brown children received gifts that probably came from the White House gift shop and PM Brown received DVD of 50 American movies which unfortunately were in a format that will not work in Great Britain. Not an especially thoughtful gift for a man who is blind in one eye and has probably seen all the classic films anyway.

The Clinton gaffe was even more troubling. In an attempt to stick to their story that America lost international status during the Bush administration the Clinton State Department came up with a cheap little trick which backfired. In a televised meeting with Russian diplomat Mrs. Clinton presented a prop. The so called "reset button" was supposed to demonstrate a "do-over" in the relationship between America and Russia. The idea itself was too cute by half and the execution was flawed. Considering our history with Russia handing them a red button is problematic on it's own. Add to that the fact that button was labeled "Overcharge" instead of "Reset" (shouldn't we have people in the state department who know Russian?) and we have an embarrassing mistake which would have been front page news during the Bush administration.

GOOD INTENTIONS, BAD IDEAS

Ask me how we got into such bad economic condition and I'll tell you. It was the toxic combination of good intentions and bad ideas. The two most devastating hits on our economy in 2008 were the failure of Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac and the high cost of energy. First the banking failure.

In 1993 I worked for a small bank in North Palm Beach. Although the lending guidelines were the same for all borrowers it was bank policy to take a second look at any application from an African-American before issuing a denial. If there was any way the loan could be made, despite the borrower or the property not meeting the required guidelines the loan would be approved. It was explained to me by bank management that since a percentage of the banks depositors were African-American a similar number needed to receive loans by law. The law was the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) passed during the Carter administration then aggressively in forced during the Clinton years. That small bank did not survive the 1990's.

Another feature of the CRA made the bank practice called "red lining" illegal. Bank lending guidelines included not lending in areas or neighborhoods in decline. The unavailability of investment in an undesirable area would hasten the decline and people would move out as property values continued to decline. Eventually the values would be low enough to make it profitable for an investor to buy the area, raze it and build something new and valuable. By outlawing this practice the CRA put dying neighborhoods on life support drawing our their decline and delaying or forever preventing their revitalization.

When I began my career in mortgage lending the maximum loan Fannie Mae would approve was under $100,000. To qualify the borrower's monthly mortgage payment could not exceed 28% of their gross monthly income. The borrowers total monthly indebtedness could not exceed 36% of their gross monthly income. Every loan approved was signed by the underwriter who made the decision and if the loan defaulted the underwriter was sure to hear about it.

By the time the wheels came off the Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac express the maximum loan was over $400,000 and lenders were using "desktop underwriting". This ingenious device was a computer program that made the loan decision for the underwriter. Suddenly it was possible to get an approval on a loan where the total housing expense was 50% or more of the borrowers gross monthly income. If a loan was somehow declined by desktop underwriting the loan broker could tweak it and re-submit as many times as needed to get an approval. Even more detrimental than the higher loan amounts and higher ratios was the absence of any accountability for the loan decision.

If Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac had stuck to "low income housing" perhaps the banks could have survived the required by law bad loan decisions. Unfortunately as property values continued to rise they implemented "Alt-A" mortgage lending funding the Sub Prime mortgage market. The cost of the American Dream home went from $100,000 to $500,000 and in some areas to $1,000,000. Lenders became creative and offered loans that required no income verification, no significant down payment and adjustable interest rates. All to make it easier to buy the ever more expensive homes or to refinance the one you already owned.

Why would Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac want to finance million dollar homes? Perhaps to reap the larger profits generated by the larger loans. Congress had direct oversight of Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac and congressman Barney Frank, the one individual most responsible for the government failure to reign in Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac feels free to blame the banks who lent using Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac guidelines. Franklin Raines, the head of Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac had to resign in 2004 when it was discovered that Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac was under capitalized and that he had "cooked the books" to generate maximum bonus payout to himself and his staff. Raines received over 45 million in compensation during his tenure at Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac. His malfeasance was never punished and he was defended by Democrats who deflected any criticism of Raines by claiming it was "a racist attack". Lucky for Mr Raines he had the "get out of jail free card" of being an African-American.

There are at least a half dozen more government regulations which exacerbated the problem. Those issues are just too intricate and boring for me to address here.

More and more bad loans were made and the "housing bubble" got bigger and bigger every month. Property values skyrocketed and some borrowers refinanced annually reaping and spending their equity over and over again. Average Americans became real estate speculators and bought properties they had no intention of occupying, sometimes flipping a property before it was fully constructed. Any attempt to reign in Mae/Freddy Mac was opposed by Democrats and anyone daring to demand reform was called a racist.

Then there is our problem with energy which can be summed up in two words, Enviro Mentals!The price of oil topped $100 a barrel and $4 a gallon gasoline was more than our economy could bear. Although the United States has vast resources of oil and natural gas most have been put "off limits". Nuclear power plants which have been providing most of the energy needs for France and Canada are also not allowed. Liberals gush on about solar and wind power but will even oppose those methods if it might interfere with their yachting or spoil their view. We are the "Saudi Arabia" of coal but expanding the availability of cheap electricity from coal powered plants is, you guessed it, not allowed. Despite global cooling for the past decade and no convincing argument that the warming from 1978 to 1998 was caused by human activity the "Enviro Mentals" reject every workable method of energy production proposed including "Greenhouse Gas" free nuclear power.

And that is the one-two punch that brought the American economy to it's knees. Not corporate greed, not unbridled capitalism but bad government regulation and bad environmental policy. All with the best intentions of course.

500 MILLION Americans?

The botox must be seeping into Nancy Pelosi's brain. Twice recently she announced that every month 500 million Americans were losing their jobs. I guess once you start spending hundreds of billions the difference between a million and a thousand is too small to notice.

Liberals do tend to exagerate don't they. Another good example was Barack Obama himself who during the campaign stated that a Kansas storm had killed 10,000 people. The correct count of souls lost in that storm was 12.

Obama Focused on the Future, but NOT in a Good Way

I was a bit shocked to hear President Obama make reference to re-election on his third day in office and after a week in office Obama made mention of his "Legacy". That's awfully forward looking considering that his administration hasn't accomplished anything yet.

The new President made many promises to the American people during his campaign and I hope he forgets about most of them. He has already reinstated a policy that uses our tax dollars to abort children in foreign lands. I have my doubts that this is the time to look for more ways to spend money on foreign aid. Perhaps this is a matter of national security and President Obama plans to abort all future terrorists.

Another "top priority" for President Obama was to close Guantanamo Bay. There was a bit of a slip up during the signing of the executive order on Guantanamo not unlike the glitch in the swearing in of President Obama. Apparently Mr. Obama was unaware that, at present, no one knows what will be done with the occupants of said detention facility. After signing the executive order closing Guantanamo within one year he asked if there was a second order standing by to describe how that would be accomplished. President Obama was advised that "we are creating a process". Personally, I would have looked into that "process" before I signed an executive order. It seems wrong to me to promise you will do something in a set period of time when you don't have a clue as to how you will successfully complete the task.

Anyway Mr President, it is just plain tacky for you to be planing your re-election and visualizing your "legacy" before you have even made an effort to do your job.

Bush Transition Beats Clinton's

I know it's easy and somewhat desirable to forget all the Clinton crap from eight long years ago but let's recap, shall we? That way we can be thankful that in President Bush we had a decent man who took his office seriously.

With Bush we won't have the last minute plethora of pardons. On his very last day in office Clinton issued 140 pardons. Many of Cinton's pardons were granted against the recommendations of the Department of Justice and forty-seven were granted, quite unusually, without ANY examination or review by that entity. Bill Clinton pardoned his drug dealing brother, cocaine kingpin Carlos Vignali, some Puerto Rican FALN terrorists, Marc Rich, international fugitive who had done business with Iran while they held our people hostage (he was on the FBI's most wanted list), the Hasidic Jews of New Square community who swindled the U.S Government out of $40 million among others. In Clinton's defence he did not pardon himself despite agreeing to a plea deal the day before the inauguration regarding his lying under oath which included his disbarment.

Then we had all the post-pardon revelations. A large number of the newly pardoned had been big contributors to either Hillary Clinton's senatorial campaign, the Clinton Presidential library or both. Both Clinton's had a brother making pardon requests on the part of criminals who were willing to pay Hugh Rodem or Roger Clinton for the favor. We still laugh about Mrs. Clinton's "sad and disappointed" press conference. Oh, and the Hasidic Jewish community voted for Senator Clinton 1,400 to 12, a truly startling result since Hasidic Jews in general favored her opponent Rick Lazio who had never hugged Arafat's wife in public.

The new first family quickly became aware of a large amount of missing furniture. Apparently the Clinton's thought that everything that had been added to the White House during their two terms was up for grabs. The concept of someone making a gift "to the White House" was beyond their comprehension. After all, the historic building itself couldn't provide a future political favor or quid pro quo. Although the Clinton's were shamed into returning some of the furnishings and artworks how much they got away with, we will never know. This behavior is made even more bizarre by the fact that Mrs. Clinton had just received an 8 million dollar advance on her book and had registered for thousands of dollars in gifts that supporters dutifully lined up to provide.

Then there was all the office vandalism. The Bush administration tried to keep it on the down low but many incoming administration members found their offices in terrible condition. Cleverly all the keyboards had the "W's" removed, which by the way requires a replacement of the entire keyboard. Desks were turned over, papers scattered, cartoons tacked to walls and in some cases vile liquids poured on office equipment. The clean-up of this totally unnecessary damage and disrespect for our White House was picked up by the American taxpayer. I would have liked to have seen the perpetrators brought to justice for these misdeeds.

The Clinton's cheesiest inauguration day antic had to be the "post Presidency party" at a hangar at JFK Airport. There were a couple thousand supporters, a marching band and some strange review of troops by the now former President. The cost of this televised event was paid by some unidentified "Friends of Bill". If only this could have been a true "swan song" and the Clinton's gone forever.

Taxation Without Representation

In case you haven't noticed our elected representatives no longer pay any attention to what we, the American People, want. It is time for us, as a group to put our collective feet down.

First, we must demand that English be officially designated as our national language. Our country will never be united if we don't all share a common language.

Secondly, we must close our borders. Without controlled borders we are not a sovereign nation. In this age of terrorism it is suicidal to have anything short of secure borders.

We get the government we deserve so it is our responsibility to let our elected representatives know that if they ignore our wishes we will vote them out.

SOME THINGS I WON'T BE DOING DURING THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION

I have very serious doubts about Barack Obama's abilities, experience and agenda . I don't think he has any real love or respect for the United States of America. However, he was elected President and I will not behave like so many folks have over the past eight years of the Bush administrations.

Firstly I will not purchase an inflatable version of President Obama with a long Pinocchio style nose and keep it in my home and think my self so very clever. I didn't have any Clinton items like that despite him being a proven liar who had to surrender his law license for committing perjury. I also have no plans to wallpaper my refrigerator with cartoons that belittle President Obama and leave them there for months.

I've had eight years of seeing some nasty comment about Bush nearly every time I drive anywhere in Palm Beach County (nicknamed pea brain county after the 2000 election). Consequently, I won't buy and display an anti-Obama bumper sticker although I bet there will be some funny ones available. One caveat, if there is a specific issue that I feel I must display comment about I will do so. This would require a serious misstep or some malfeasance by Obama. Also, prior to January 20th I will remove my small, unobtrusive "W the President" sticker just as I removed my McCain stickers the day of the election. If only everyone would do so imagine how tidy the car cabooses of America would be.

I will not compare Obama to Hitler, unless of course he annexes Austria and invades Czechoslovakia, at which point it would be a fair comment to make. I won't criticize every step President Obama makes even when he embraces a policy I was for when Bush was President as Democrats have done. For example when Bush provided the Medicare prescription benefit that had been a Democrat campaign promise for two decades many Democrats were against it just because it was now a Bush policy. Here is South Florida many of those same complaining liberal seniors are making use of that program without ever thinking they should thank Bush for the benefit.

I will criticize actions that I feel are bad for the country, but will do so in a, mostly, respectful manner. I won't say Obama is stupid, he is not, but then neither is Bush. I may comment on his endless hemming and hawing when ever he is speaking without a teleprompter. I may not always be able to refrain from comment on his ears or his overall scrawny physique. I'll try but there will probably be the occasional odd mention of his scary wife.

In short I will not, as the left has done with George W Bush, go berserk, foam at the mouth, or buy into convoluted conspiracy schemes. I won't put opposing President Obama ahead of supporting America's best interests. I won't treat family members who disagree with me in the same hurtful hateful manner they have treated me for the past eight years. In short, I doubt I'll love President Obama but I won't hate him, no mater how much I disagree with him.

THE TRUE STORY OF THE 2000 ELECTION

In 1998 I learned a few things about George W Bush. He had been a successful Governor of Texas and seemed to have plans for America that I could support. As soon as he announced his intention to run for President the attacks started. There was at least six weeks of newspaper stories speculating on whether or not W had ever used cocaine. This seemed excessive to me as there was zero interest in the media about Bill Clinton's cocaine use. Unlike Bush there were five different people who claimed they had seen Clinton use cocaine while he was attorney general of Arkansas. Also, there was a police surveillance tape of Bill Clinton's brother conducting a drug deal and joking about the prodigious amounts of cocaine our President had been known to consume.

Throughout the campaign I felt my candidate was treated unfairly. Although Bush served for a couple of years in the prestigious Texas Air National Guard, long enough to learn to fly jets he was treated like a draft dodger. Again, something that was not considered important when it came to Bill Clinton who was an actual draft dodger. Gore's short stint in Viet Nam as an army "journalist" was treated like superior service to his country.

Bush was called a stupid frat boy while Gore was lauded as a genius and a statesman. All this despite the fact that Bush and Gore graduated from Yale and Harvard, both "C" students. While Bush went on to get an MBA from Harvard Gore never got a post-graduate degree instead he dropped out of law school and later divinity school. Bush had been the chief executive of one of the largest states in our union. Gore had been an ineffective congressman followed by two terms as Vice-President and you know what they say that position is worth.

The Bush bashing went on unabated and just a few days prior to the election Fox News broke a story that Bush had a DUI from twenty years ago. Bush didn't try to deny that this had happened and had always admitted that when he was young and foolish he had behave like a young fool. Also, it was common knowledge that at age 40 George W. Bush had made the decision to quit drinking and by all reports had done just that. Still, this was big news and the media reported all they could about it in the last days of the campaign.

On election day Fox News was the first to erroneously call the state of Florida for Gore. They did so before the polls were closed in the panhandle and all networks followed with the same wrong call for Florida. This allowed the media to create the impression that Gore was winning in a landslide. Folks on their way to the polls in the panhandle heard the news on the radio and went home without voting. People in line to vote heard the news and gave up and went home with out voting.

These incorrect early reports dampened Republican turnout nationwide. It is estimated that the early call in Florida cost Bush 5,000 to 15,000 votes in the panhandle. It is obvious this illusion of a Gore juggernaut cost Bush the popular vote nationwide. The networks had to take the "Gore wins Florida" call back but the damage was already done. Once enough precincts had reported in to make it obvious Bush had won things really started to happen.

I was so relieved, my candidate had managed to win despite the unfair media treatment. Since the final count had Bush winning Florida by less than 1% a machine recount was required but he won that count too. Then Gore and the Democrats launched their attempt to steal the Presidential election. Manual recounts have long been an election stealing tool used by the Democrats when the margin of victory is small. hanks to the voter suppression in the panhandle and some ballot tampering in Palm Beach County the margin was small enough to be overcome if Democrats could control the recount.

I was sick. Every night I would lay in bed thinking "They're going to steal it". Democrats usually demand recount after recount until one results in their win than claim victory and demand all challenges to the results be put aside in the spirit of good sportsmanship. Gambits the Democrats tried included disqualifying as many of the Florida absentee ballots from our service men and women as possible. A memo went our with suggestions for all the possible technicalities that could be used to disenfranchise members of our military. In addition a court case was filed to disqualify all the Republican absentee ballots from one county on a technicalities. If that case has succeeded Gore would have successfully stolen the election.

If the shoe had been on the other foot and Bush was requesting recounts of the three most Republican counties in Florida he would have been crucified in every newscast and news paper in America. Gore was given a complete pass. I can see him now on TV saying "when people vote we should count those votes", right Al how many times should we count them? What a crock!

The Florida Supreme Court got into the act and did everything in their power to help Gore overturn the election results. Everyone focuses on the rulings from the United States Supreme Court which decided 7 to 2 that what the Florida court had done was unconstitutional and then decided 5 to 4 to finally put a stop to this farce of a "recount."

The Democrats spent the next 8 years claiming Bush was "Selected not elected". In the 2004 election they tried again to make the nation believe that Bush was losing big. In Florida AGAIN Democrats flooded certain poll locations when they knew pollsters would be there. Unfortunately for the Democrats the Republicans were ignoring any media reports of early results but John Kerry fell for the ruse. Overconfident that he was on his way to a big win Kerry said that whoever wins they should concede promptly for the good of the country. This made it difficult for Kerry to hold out when it became clear Bush had been re-elected.

The first Bush administration was put at a terrible disadvantage by having their transition time stolen by this bogus recount nonsense. Perhaps if the Bush team could have transitioned in the usual time frame they would have uncovered and prevented the attacks on September 11th, 2001.

For the First Time in My Adult Life

To re-phrase Michelle Obama for the first time in my adult life I truly fear for my country. We have elected an unqualified unknown individual. No one really knows what Barack Obama will do in office. The only thing he is passionate about is his daily workouts.

Obama ran on promises of "hope" and "change" with very little detail as to what changes would be made and for what exactly we could hope. Obama has been carried on the shoulders of affirmative action his entire life. He has personally accomplished nothing but electoral success.

Obama was the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review but apparently wrote nothing of merit during that time. Perhaps his writings from that time are sequestered like Hillary's thesis (about her mentor Saul Alinsky) which is under lock and key at Wellsley. Obama has published two memoirs but those tomes were probably written by former domestic terrorists Bill Ayres.

Obama's time in the Illinois legislature was unremarkable. He was the only member to stand and oppose a law which would require babies born after botched abortions be provided medical care rather then simply setting them aside and allowing them to die. I was living in Illinois in 2004 and we came quite close to electing some reformers to stop the time honored Chicago policy of "pay to play". Unfortunately Obama put his support behind the status quo and Mayor Daly and Governor Blagojevich were both re-elected. I think Obama promised change in Washington D.C. but in Chicago he supported business as usual.

Obama is extremely sensitive to criticism. Not a good quality in a President when nearly half of the nation is going to disagree with whatever he chooses to do on any issue. Luckily for Obama the media is on his side for the time being at least. Imagine the noise they would have made if President elect George W Bush had spent two weeks in a 30 million dollar property in Hawaii when he should have been preparing for his Presidency. Instead the media is swooning at the sight of our President-elect rising bare chested from the surf like Venus on a clam shell.

Oh well, I am basically an optimist and all his life Obama has done whatever made him look good. As President he will have to make good choices for the country is he wants to "look good".

ENOUGH WITH THE BUSH BASHING

When I learned that George W Bush planned to run for President I was pleased. His dad had been an okay President but I thought he could be better. Bush 41 was too much of a gentleman I hoped that Bush 43 would be tougher and more effective. He had been a successful Governor of Texas despite having a Democrat majority in the state legislature when he was elected there. I hoped that this Bush had more of his mom in him than his dad.

As soon as Bush announced his intention to run for President the attacks started. Throughout the campaign I felt my candidate was treated unfairly. Just a few days prior to the election Fox News broke a story that Bush had a DUI from twenty years ago. This and some ballot tampering in Florida kept the election close enough for Gore to mount an attempt to steal it. If Gore could, by hook or crook, reverse the Bush win in Florida he would be declared the winner of the 2000 Presidential election. The media supported Gore in every way they possibly could but through divine providence Bush prevailed and was inaugurated in January 2001.

The election was over but the anti-Bush campaign went on. Bush had naively promised a "new tone" so time and time again he reached out to the democrats. No matter what Bush did he was endlessly and almost universally criticized. National disgrace Ted Kennedy would accept an invitation to the White House to see a movie about the Cuban missile crisis and resume denigrating the President the following Monday morning in the Senate. President Bush would give an over the top complimentary speech while unveiling the Presidential portraits of Bill & Hillary Clinton, but Senator Clinton would never say anything complimentary about President Bush. When the country was attacked everyone came together for about 2 weeks. After that it was Bush Bashing business as usual. Hillary Clinton stood on the floor of the Senate holding the New York Times with a two inch headline screaming WHAT DID BUSH KNOW WHEN!

Throughout all these attacks President Bush never stooped to the level of his detractors. An organization named MoveOn.org ironically created to ask the country to move past the Clinton scandals was instrumental in keeping the "Bush was selected not elected" fallacy alive. George Soros spent 24 million dollars of his own money to help defeat Bush in 2004, but Bush prevailed once again. The term BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) was born. The President was attacked in movies, books (some portraying his assassination) and especially in print.
Bush supporters have suffered terribly. I have been personally slandered in emails from family members. I have been ordered out of my brother's home at night in the snow when I didn't have a car with me. In the past 8 years I have rarely had a moments peace from the relentless Bush Bashing. Anti-Bush comments can come from anywhere. The movie or TV show I am watching, my hairdresser, the radio host, the idiot making my sandwich at subway. I hadn't previously know how liberal sports writers were but I quickly found out. No matter the subject you were reading about there could always be an anti Bush zinger waiting to jump out at you. Once I encountered one in the food section of the Sun Sentinel. Anyone with anything negative to say about our President felt it was their civic duty to spout off at any time. Even shopping for Christmas cards I have to be subjected to cards coupling Bush's face in different expressions next to the faces of chimps.

If you dare to make your support for the President known (tee shirt, bumper sticker whatever) perfect strangers feel it is within their rights to challenge your opinion. They have managed to make it "controversial" for me to dare to support the President of the United States of America in my own country. I have been laughed at, given a thumbs down, confronted and insulted. My own and only sister has in my presence spit the word Republican as tho it were an expletive. My mother sent an email to me and other family members addressing the general infamy of Republicans and when I replied, sent a second email essentially apologizing for my existence. I try not to think about that one.

Enough Bush Bashers, for eight years I have cried, I have screamed I have lain awake with clenched fists. You have your skinny liberal messiah as President elect so get off my President George W Bush. Oh, and by the way between the two of them with worse hair and bigger ears Obama looks more like a chimp than W ever did.

Obama's First Broken Campaign Promise

It is not unusual for politicians to break their campaign promises but they generally wait until after the election. Barack Obama broke his promise to accept public funding for his Presidential campaign before the election. This promise, made during the primaries was put in writing which should mean it is a promise the candidate intended to keep. Obama's excuse for changing his mind is that the public funding system "is broken". There has been no change to the rules of public funding since Obama's made the promise. I would say that he reneged but that would leave me open to accusations of "racisim".

Democrats Love Legal Loopholes!

American citizens are allowed to contribute a maximum of $2,300 to a candidate for the Primary and again for the general election. This limits an individuals legal donation to a candidate to $4,600 a law with which I disagree. However, when one candidate is following the law and another is side stepping it something should be done.

The law, stupidly, does not require a candidate to identify a donor who gives less than $200. Consequently, dishonest Obama supporters are flooding the donation web site with multiple small donations given under false names. These contributors could be identified easily by the Obama campaign (the McCain campaign identifies all of it's donors) but to do so would make the fraud obvious. A donor listing himself as "Will Good" made 1,000 donations for a total of $17,375. Even after a number of the donations were returned the amount contributed of $8,950 is well above the legal amount one person may contribute. Since Mr. Will Good listed his employer as "Loving" and his job as "You" it is possible he isn't who he says he is.

Another contributor, Doodad Pro gave $19,500 in 786 separate donations. Remarkably he had the same employer and job as Will Good (Loving & You). In addition to these questionable practices the Obama campaign has been running a "Matching Donation Drive" Here is how that works, If you donate say $100 some rich Obama supporter who has already met or exceeded their donation limit will donate an additional amount in your name. That way they are exceeding the legal amount they may donate but it is no longer illegal since the excessive amount is said to have come from you.

Barry Obama learned well in the Chicago School of dishonest politics. This shocking fund raising situation has been known since late September but it is yet another "story" in which the main stream media has no interest.

Illegal Foreign Donations AGAIN?

How do the Democrat presidential candidates always attract foreign donations and get away with accepting most of them? Bill Clinton sold technology to the Chinese which may well come back to bite us on the butt one day. Why would he do such a thing? To generate illegal foreign contributions, oh and contributions from the corporations who would profit from their new Chinese customers.

Barack Obama has used a legal loophole in the campaign finance rules to accept millions from foreign supporters. Using the Internet foreign citizens can make multiple small donations which are illegal and add up to millions. Since the Internet is an excellent tool for tracking information it is well within the ability for the Obama campaign to identify these donors and refuse the illegal contributions. However, if they did that they wouldn't hove those millions to use out-spending McCain 4 to 1 in the battleground states. The Federal Election Commission has identified 11,500 foreign donors who gave a total of $33.8 million to the Obama campaign.

The Hillary Clinton campaign required out of the country donors to fax their proof of citizenship prior to accepting donations. Did you ever expect to see the day when the Democrat Presidential candidates fund raising policies would be less scrupulous than those of a Clinton campaign? Over 1,400 of the foreign donations were from American service people and diplomats who contributed a little over $200,000. That leaves 33.6 million from unknown and undoubtedly foreign donors. Over 500 listed their "state" as "IR" which probably means Iran. Other contributions came from Iraq, France the middle east, Beijing and Italy. Dividing the number of donors by the dollar amount reflects an average donation of nearly $3,000.

Donations to American political campaigns from foreigners are illegal. The Obama has taken some too little too late steps to discontinue accepting foreign donations but has not addressed the vast sums already received. As John Fund of the Wall Street Journal recently said "Oh, there will be an investigation, after the election and someone will probably have to pay a fine." By then the damage will have been done and America will be the one to pay the price.

From the Tiny A.C.O.R.N. a Mighty Scandal Grows

Yet another Obama connection that is of not interest to the MSM (Main Stream Media) is A.C.O.R.N. This is a group with fingers in many pies and a hand in the taxpayers pocket.

One of the things A.C.O.R.N. does is register new voters, generally Democrat voters. The organization claims to be non-partisan but they do have a PAC (political action committee) which has endorsed Obama. Several A.C.O.R.N. employees have been convicted of voter fraud. In Washington state 1800 voters were registered but only 6 of them were legitimate. In Ohio employees of A.C.O.R.N. admitted to making up names of registrants, using names like Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Jive Turkey. Statistically speaking 15 to 30 percent of the voters registered by A.C.O.R.N. are felons, do not reside in the state in which they are being registered or are dead. I suppose a few might have died after being registered by A.C.O.R.N. but that would be a small percentage.

Barack Obama was the attorney for A.C.O.R.N. for several years and involved with one of their groups in Chicago. They're motto was "It's a power thing". As an attorney for A.C.O.R.N. Obama sued banks to force them to make sub-prime loans to low income borrowers. A.C.O.R.N. is one of the organizations pushing the lending policies that resulted in the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

All of Obama's associations are with groups promoting the same old liberal ideas that sound good but eventually blow up in our face. Heaven help us if he becomes President with Democrats still in control of both houses. The troika of Obama, Reid & Pelosi would be disastrous for our country.

Obama's Early October Suprise

The term "October Surprise" refers to a bogus claim that then Vice President candidate George H W Bush went to Iran to request that they hold our hostages until after the election. There was no evidence that Bush had ever left the country much less visited Iran but Democrats still pushed this conspiracy theory.

We now have evidence that Barack Obama has attempted to undermine our efforts to negotiate a withdrawal of our troops from Iraq. We know that Obama met with Iraqi leaders in July. One of the men he met with, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari disclosed some details of that meeting in an interview with Amir Taheri of the New York Post. According to Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July. Zebari said "He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington." Obama's advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the "weakened Bush administration," Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate. While in Iraq, Obama also tried to persuade the US commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to suggest a "realistic withdrawal date." They declined.

At present we are on track to remove all American combat troops by 2011 or 2012. There is no way to responsibly accelerate that date. Delaying an agreement for political reasons like allowing President Obama to claim the credit is toying with our troops and is certainly not putting the country first.

According to recent reports Obama is taking his teleprompter on the road. Obama addressed supporters at a rodeo of all places with his trusty teleprompter front and center. Apparently all that soaring oratory goes out the window when the Senator is off script. Obama came to national prominence by giving a speech at the Democratic convention in 2003. The highly praised speech was presented using a teleprompter. Nothing wrong with that, most candidates and elected leaders all use teleprompters for major speeches.

There may be something wrong with a candidate for President who can barely string two sentences together without a teleprompter. Obama has consistently refused to join John McCain in a series of "townhall meetings" which would allow the American people to get to know the candidates. When Obama was finally shamed into visiting Iraq he gave a forty minute press conference. During which he hemmed and hawed so many times that Rush Limbaugh had all the stops and stutters strung together to make a seven and a half minute "Obama Uh Montage". Now before you do the math and say, "well seven minutes out of 40 isn't so bad" remember to allow time for the questions from the press which had to take up 1/3 of the 40 minutes.

Obama has been hailed as a brilliant speaker, but take away the teleprompter, which holds a speech written by David Axelrod, and he is more tongue tied than George W Bush.

Did Trial Lawyers Bring Down the World Trade Center Towers?

Mesothelioma, a dreadful disease brought on by exposure to asbestos. That is what the ads say and there is even a new ad featuring Erin Brokivich, yammering on about greedy corporations who value profits above human lives. Trial lawyers have made untold millions suing corporations that had some connection, however tenous to some human exposure to asbestos.

It didn't matter that those corporations may have had no idea that asbestos was dangerous to humans. It didn't matter is the company being sued had purchased a now defunct company that had some asbestos in their history. The only thing that mattered was could a "victim" be found and did the corporation have sufficiently deep pockets to make the suit worth the while of an attorney.

This litigious feeding frenzy made any type of asbestos radioactive. Once the health problems associated with asbestos were fully identified safe formulas were created but treated with suspicion. Builders were so concerned of some future harm being caused by the new asbestos they avoided using it whenever possible.

Consequently, the steel girders holding up the World Trade Center were not coated with this flame retardant product above, well, I forget above exactly which floor but clearly not high up enough. Now, Rosie and other assorted nut cases may choose to believe that fire cannot melt steel and indulge in the conspiracy du jour. They must have missed the explanation of the process detailed in Popular Mechanics.

The Twin Towers fell because the fire weakened the steel girders enough that they could no longer support the floors above the fire. When the weight of those floors struck they took the rest of the towers down and vaporized most of the people and things inside. Perhaps, if those girders had been coated in asbestos as had been the policy of the past they may have survived.

Obama Campaign Takes Yet Another Phrase Off the Table

Throughout this campaign and during the primary campaign Barack Obama has issued edicts regarding what can and cannot be said. He has chided opponents for saying that he is a liberal or for daring to use his middle name. I don't know where Obama ever got the idea that he is the boss of what anyone is allowed to say.

In his time as a candidate Obama has instructed the media that he should not be called "liberal" There should be no mention of his middle name, Hussain. No one should comment on his ears. It is unacceptable fir anyone to criticize his wife. He should not be held responsible for the statements of his former pastor, Reverend Wright.

Now the term "community organizer" has been added to the list of things that must not be said. Former Mayor of San Francisco, Willie Brown recently introduced the idea that when Republicans say "community organizer" it is a code word for "black man".

Well, Obama's biggest liability isn't the color of his skin. In my opinion it is the thinness of that skin that is his weakness. That and the arrogance that he should be able to set the rules for everyone else to follow.

Was Obama a Teenage Muslim?

No, Barack Obama is not a Muslim nor was he one during his teenage years. The Obama campaign is claiming that Republicans are using Obama's ties to Islam as a smear. Here are the facts.

Barack Obama was born a Muslim because his father was a Muslim. His mother was an anthropologist and although his grandparents were Christians his mother was more of a secular humanists. Barack's father took off pretty quick and since he had never divorced his first wife in Kenya it is hard to say if their marriage was valid anyway.

Obama's mother then married an Indonesian man who was also a Muslim. When Barack was six years-old he moved to Indonesia and lived there for four years. In Indonesia Barack attended a Catholic school but was enrolled by his mother as a a Muslim. Consequently he did pray with the other Muslim children and received weekly instruction on the Koran. In the third grade Obama was enrolled in a public school again identified as a Muslim, but he never attended a "madrassa" or any radical Muslim school as some have claimed.

Still, the Obama campaign is being untruthful when they claim that he was "never" a Muslim or that he has never prayed in a mosque. He was the son of one Muslim man and the stepson of another. As a child he occasionally attended a mosque and had some training in Islam. When the Obama campaign wants to be scrupulously accurate they say he has never been "a practicing Muslim". They know that admitting to having any Muslim background could cost the Senator votes.

It is true that some Americans would not vote for a Muslim just as some might have not voted for Mitt Romney because he is a Mormon. It is also true that Barack Obama became a practicing Christian in the 1990's when he joined the Trinity United Church in Chicago.

Considering the type of sermons delivered by the Reverend Wright in that church I think the country might be better off with a Muslim.

"Jesus Christ was a communnity organizer Pontius Pilate was a governor" - Donna Brazil - Democrat operative and former advisor to AlGore and then this statement was repeated on the floor of the House of Representatives by Democrat Congressman Steve Cohen Tennessee. WOW, usually only the Jewish Republicans are called "Christ Killers".

The political corruption of the city of Chicago in a time honored tradition that has been well documented through the years. As the state of Illinois turned "blue" through and through in the late 90's and early 2000's the corruption spread statewide creating something called the "Illinois Combine". The "Illinois Combine" is described by author David Freddoso as "a bipartisan group of public officials who ran a statewide operation resembling Chicago in it's disregard for good government.

Illinois Democrats and Republicans who wanted to stay in office knew they had to "go along to get along". Exceptions to this rule were generally rare and dealt with promptly. One exception was Republican Senator Peter Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was elected in 1998 by narrowly defeating Carol Mosley Braun after using over 13 million of his own money to fund his campaign.

Senator Fitzgerald had no intention of "going along to get along". Senator Fitzgerald requested the appointment of U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald to investigate the "Illinois Combine". Thanks to the efforts of these two Fitzgerald's some "bad actors" were prosecuted and several, from both parties, were sent to jail. Sadly Senator Fitzgerald efforts were not appreciated and without the support of his own party he chose not to run for reelection.

This provided an opportunity for the Democrats and specifically for Barack Obama. However he had to win the primary first. There were several candidates and the early favorite was state comptroller Dan Hynes. Hynes would probably have won except for another candidate, Blair Hull. Hull, an eccentric multi-millionaire spent nearly 29 million dollars attacking Hynes. Hynes lead was beaten down and with a 10 point lead over Hynes and Obama Hull was poised to win the Senate seat.

Thirty days prior to the primary election sordid details of Hulls divorce appeared in the Chicago Tribune and Senator Barack Obama was born. Obama, of course, had nothing to do with the release of this information, or did he. One of Obama's advisors had known about this skeleton in Hulls closet for over two years. That advisor, David Axelrod is still working with and for Barack Obama as his chief strategist and speech writer. This could all be coincidence but Axelrod had known for two years about Hulls marital disgrace. Information which didn't become public knowledge until after Hull had destroyed Obama's other competition, Dan Hynes. Oh, and the story was run by Axelrod's former employer, the Chicago Tribune.

Obama had won the Democrat primary and now faced Republican, Jack Ryan. Ryan was an attractive candidate who had a chance of beating Obama. Unfortunately he also was divorced. The Chicago Tribune sued to have Jack Ryan's divorce documents released and the details of the couples sex life completely derailed his campaign. Ryan withdrew from the campaign and Republicans tried to replace him with a good candidate in the short time they had left but could not do so. So, if Obama becomes President and destroys this country you can blame Mike Ditka. Ditka was approached but chose not to run and he was the only Illinois Republican who had a chance at that time.

Illinois State Senate President, Emil Jones, has been called Obama's "political Godfather". I think that "Fairy Godmother" would be more accurate. Obama was a brand spanking new state senator. Obama had managed to get elected but it would take years of hard work to build credibility. However, Obama had no intention of spending years building a record that might be an asset in the distant future but could just as easily be a detriment in a race for national office.

Emil Jones gave Obama high-profile legislation which had already cleared most hurdles and was near passage. Also, Jones placed Obama in the chairmanship of the senate's health committee. This allowed Obama to advance legislation that would make him the darling of the Service Employees International Union which has over 100,000 members in Illinois.

Normally, the state Senate President would be twisting arms to get the legislation he wants passed but Barack Obama had a special deal with Jones. If a piece of legislation was controversial and support for it could come back to haunt Obama he was allowed to vote "present". Obama voted that way approximately 130 times in the Illinois State Senate and if the legislation was really something that could come back and bite him he would just duck out until the votes had passed or failed.

We all know that Barack Obama was a "community organizer" in Chicago before he was elected to the Illinois State legislature. How exactly did Obama manage to get elected to office in the first place. In his second book Obama credits the message he brought but how important is your message when you don't have an opponent?

In Illinois candidate collect voters signatures on petitions to qualify to appear on the ballot. Obama's main opponent in the 1996 election was Alice Palmer, the incumbent and a state senator since 1991. Ms Palmer had collected 1,580 signatures, more than twice the 757 needed to qualify to be on the ballot. However Ms Palmer in the end was not on the ballot. A paid consultant for Obama went over the list of signatures with a fine-tooth comb and managed to disqualify enough of those signatures to get Ms Palmer disqualified. Just a little bit of hard-ball politics Chicago style. Some of the signatures were truly not valid but many were eliminated on technicalities, some as small a thing as printing ones name instead of writing it.

Obama's consultant, Ronald Davis was so good at this that they went ahead and got the other three candidates disqualified as well. So, whatever Obama's message to the people of the 13th district was and however well he delivered that message or how well it was received there is something we will never know. When those voters entered the booths to cast their ballots would they have elected Barack Obama if they had had more than one candidate to choose from.

Obama was asked years later about the apparent unfairness of these tactics and this was his response. "If you can win you should win and get to work doing the people's business." By all means Senator, these are important decisions, why would you let the people whose business you plan to do have any say in the selection of their representative?

Do You Know Who the FOO's (Friends of Obama) Are?

During the Clinton Administration there was a group of folks referred to as FOB's or "Friends of Bill". I do believe that the people you choose to associate with is a good measure of the type of person you are. All politicians say "I'm this, I'm that I'm brand new". The only way we can effectively judge who they really are is by looking at what they have done and with whom they have surrounded themselves.

Here is a short list of the FOO's (Friends of Obama).

William Ayers - Obama began his political career in this man's living room. Ayers is a professor at the University of Chicago and a neighbor of Obama. They have worked together on the board of the Woods Foundation and on a school reform group called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Ayres is an unrepentant terrorist. He was a member of the left-wing group "the Wetherman". This group bombed police departments, the Capital and the Pentagon. Those acts were forty years ago but as recently as 2001 Ayere said he didn't regret setting bombs and felt that they hadn't done enough. Here is a quote from Ayers book Fugitive Days - "Everything was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the Pentagon. The sky was blue. The birds were singing. And the bastards were finally going to get what was coming to them."

David Axelrod - Chief Strategist and speech writer for the Obama campaign. Formerly the main mouthpiece and "spin-doctor" for Mayor Daley of Chicago. Axelrod has kept Daley from being indicted despite multiple investigations of corruption, bribery, and pay-to-play schemes which have resulted in the indictments and imprisonment of dozens of Daley staff members, contributors and supporters.

Saul Alinsky - The author of "Rules for Radicals" and a hero of Hillary Clinton. Obama studied and implemented Alinsky's "techniques" during his stint as a "community organizer" when he was working for and with some of Alinsky's disciples. Here is a quote from Saul Alinsky. "Life is a corrupting process from the time a child learns to play his mother off against his father in the politics of when to go to bed; he who fears corruption fears life." Note to Saul Alinsky, some of us outgrow this and develop character and integrity.

Antoin "Tony" Rezko - Tony Rezko is the most obviously guilty of a group of developers with ties to Obama, he is currently in prison. Obama wrote letters to state and city officials promoting Rezko's bid to get $14 million in tax dollars to build senior citizen housing. Obama supported and co-sponsored legislation that benefited developers of "low cost" housing projects. Remarkably most developers involved were FOO's and most of the projects turned out to be poorly built, ill maintained and are now vacant eyesores. Rezko raised and contributed a total of $250,000 to Obama throughout his political career.

Robert Blackwell Jr - Ping-pong patronage. Blackwell owned EKI a company that put Obama on an $8,000 a month retainer and paid him a total of $112,000 in 2001 and 2002. Obama wrote a request to Illinois state officials for a $50,000 tourism grant paid to a company called Killerspin, also owned by Blackwell. Killerspin organized ping pong tournaments and sold ping-pong gear. Killerspin received $20,000 in 2002, $200,000 in 2003 and $100,000 in 2004. Blackwell was a regular contributor to Obamas campaigns and has 'bundled" contributions from employees of his companies.

Rev Jeremiah Wright - Obama attended Rev. Wright's church for twenty years. Wright married the Obama's and baptized both their daughters. Obama had previously called Wright a "mentor" and claims it was Wright who "brought him to Christ". The Rev. Wright is a man who thinks it appropriate to say that God should "damn" America in his Sunday service. Wright told his congregation that their government invented A.I.D.S. to eradicate them and supplied their youths with drugs so that they would end up in jail. Here is a quote of Wright explaining the September 11 attacks. - "We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and the black South Africans, and now we are indignant-because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back into our own front yards! America's chickens are coming home to roost." How many Sunday's would you sit with your elementary school age children listening to sermons like that?

The Obama campaign tried to build all kinds of excitement over the selection of a Vice-Presidential candidate. And now we know why. They knew that the choice itself was anything but exciting so they focused endlessly on the process of announcing that choice.

First they came up with the gimmick of making the announcement via text messages. This served two purposes. It was "new" and cool and invited the comparison of John McCain as an old fuddy-duddy who has admitted he isn't computer savvy. Secondly, it gave the Obama campaign access to information on supporters who could possibly be converted to donors.

Then they delayed that announcement, and delayed it and delayed it. Obama announced that the choice had been made but played coy on telling us who it was. This might have been a successful tactic if they had managed to make the announcement before it leaked out. Instead of having wall-to-wall coverage and making the announcement with fanfare and a drum roll the Obama campaign was forced to send their "text messages" at 3am on a Saturday morning. It was as if they were ashamed of their choice and wanted to slide it by with a little notice as possible.

Considering who Barack Obama chose as his runningmate the 3am announcement kind of makes sense.

Save Our Seas - Drill Drill DRILL!

Every day, somewhere on planet earth oil is released into the pristine waters of our oceans and seas. Mother Earth deals with this and dissipates the sludge until is is completely eradicated but why should she have to do so? I am speaking of the oil that oozes from cracks and crevices in the ocean floor. This is the largest source of oil pollution of our waters and it can be stopped.

We must begin immediately to remove these oil deposits from beneath our beautiful seas. Oil derricks can be placed far enough from shore to be invisible to from ocean front homes and beaches. This despicable substance which is of no benefit to our oceans or their marine life must be brought ashore where it can be processed and safely destroyed. Although this oil can only hurt our seas, brought ashore it can warm our homes, fuel our cars and planes and be converted into useful products to enhance our lives.

There is not a moment to spare we must begin immediately to drill here and drill now!

Bush & Batman

I was so intrigued by this I went to see the movie. To me the biggest similarity between our fight against Islamo-fascist and Gotham's fight against the Joker was the way many people attacked their defenders as being the problem. Many of the Gotham citizens and policemen called for Batman to acquiesce to the Jokers demands in hopes that that would end the violence. Just as many Americans call for us to get out of Iraq, forgetting who is perpetrating the violence. Essentially the Gotham's were excusing the Joker's direct actions, killing people, and blaming Batman for his actions which were antagonizing the criminals of their city including the mentally deranged Joker.

Since we have held fast in Iraq we have not had demonstrated for us what would happen if we acquiesce to the Islamo-fascists demands. In The Dark Night we did see what happened. Stop reading here if you haven't seen the film yet. The Joker didn't stop killing people, he just changed the target and told the citizens of Gotham to kill a person or he would unleash more terrorism on the city. Several citizens did try to carry out that execution request. Hey, just because the Joker didn't keep his first promise doesn't mean he wouldn't keep a second one.

You should see the eyes roll when I say that Star Wars helped Ronald Reagan get elected but this film, The Dark Knight" could help us win the war on terror. Like Star Wars, it could remind us that there is good and evil. There are enemies with whom we cannot negotiate. Enemies who must be defeated and very probably destroyed if we want to survive.

Senator Obama, Who Are You Calling Bitter?

Barack Obama has described the people of Pennsylvania as "bitter". This alleged bitterness he attributes to jobs that left their communities 25 years ago.

I think a better example of a bitter person would be Michelle Obama. Still nursing a grudge because she didn't feel that she fit in at college. Despite having achieved the American Dream Mrs. Obama is not proud of her country, except when it is cheering her husband. Mrs Obama has described the United States of America as a country that is "downright mean". Yep, we are so mean that we gave her a 100k job at a hospital and when her husband was elected to the Senate she got a 200k raise. No wonder she hsates America.

How about the Reverend Wright. Couldn't he be described as bitter? He so hates America that he called the attacks of 9/11 "America's chickens coming home to roost". Screaming in front of his congregation that their government had created A.I.D.S. in an attempt to kill them. What kind of a parent would allow their children to hear such a thing, in church! The reverend then drives home to the more than a million dollar home he was given by his church. A home in a gated, white, upper-class, golf community. Makes you wonder how he keeps the bitterness alive.
Barack Obama. His wife is angry, his minister is angry. He is not who he claims to be. He is not who his supporters think he is and he cannot unify anyone.

Will Politicians Ever Learn

Recently Hillary was caught in a whopper of a lie about her visit to Bosnia during the Clinton administration. When will politicians learn that they can't get away with stuff like this any more. Since the advent of LexusNexis every statement ever made that appeared in print can be easily retrieved and compared to current statements. That alone should have corrected the tendency of many public figures to tailor their statements to the audience of that moment.

Even more recently, Barack Obama's arrogance was exposed when he spoke about "small town Pennsylvania" to a crowd in San Francisco. Obama said You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them, and it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Wow, so Obama sees hardworking folks in Pennsylvania as bitter losers who turn to religion or cling to their guns. If they dare to oppose illegal immigration it isn't that they want our laws enforced or our borders secured to keep us safe. No they're just angry that they haven't had a job for 25 years and are looking for someone to blame. Finally, since Sen. Obama is speaking out against NAFTA and opposes a trade agreement with Columbia who is he to claim that some Americans are anti-trade because they are bitter? Is this the way Obama plans to "unite" America?

Now with YouTube readily available to most Americans public figures will need to think twice before fabricating events or telling elites in San Francisco how little they respect rubes in another part of the country. Even average Americans are finding that more of their behavior is being filmed and saved for posterity whether they want it to be or not. With video cameras in every public place and in perhaps as much as twenty-five percent of cell phones there is no longer any safe place to act the fool.

In the case of our elected officials I like the idea of being able to see for myself what they said and being able to hold them responsible for their statements. It's a good deal more difficult to claim you were "misquoted" or taken out of context when we can see you as you made that statement.

In the case of private individuals I hope public behavior will improve with the knowledge that you too could have embarrassing behavior available for anyone in the world to view at their leisure. So, as my Grandmother used to say, "watch your P's & Q's".

Barack Obama Could Be the First Black Jimmy Carter

If the "Clinton Machine" fails to put an end to the presidential aspirations of Barack Obama, for 2008 at least, he could become our next President. I have always felt that any of the Republican candidates would be able to beat Hillary but possibly not Obama. The media has convinced most of America that John McCain was the only candidate who could have a shot at winning and consequently we in the GOP got stuck with him. The Democrat front runner is currently Barack Obama and if he wins the White House it will be Jimmy Carter all over again.

I was first eligible to vote way back when Jimmy Carter was facing Jerry Ford. I knew almost nothing about politics and was a registered Democrat, but then I repeat myself. Despite my naivete I looked at the two men asking for my vote and I voted for Ford. Judging from how the following four years went I stand by my choice. Then came the Reagan years and to this day I have always voted for the person I considered the best choice. I have never voted for a Democrat for President. I was a Republican in my heart only for years. I was on jury duty once and hanging around the courthouse with nothing to do. I noticed the Supervisor of Elections office and went in and officially changed parties.

As I am composing this I hear on the radio that twenty percent of white Democrats say they will vote for John McCain if Obama is their nominee. I can assure you that if twenty percent of white Democrats say that, there is another twenty percent who say they will vote for Obama but will not. People have a limited comfort zone. Some dedicated Democrats will find themselves in that voting booth and either feel unsure about voting for a black man or be uncomfortable with the idea of President Obama. Now, President McCain sounds more like what most of us are accustom to.

However, if some twist of fate puts Senator Obama in the Oval Office I predict that he will be as unsuccessful in that office as Jimmy Carter. President Carter had no true love for this country. Look at the things he said and did in office and since. Carter was and is always critical of the US. You would be hard pressed to find evidence Carter was ever really proud of this country. Carter always proceeded as though the US deserved to be humbled. In his time in office he gave away the Panama Canal, he denied us an Olympics, a national Christmas tree, and warm homes. All this from a Southern white man who had been successful in America and should have had no ax to grind against us.

Then comes Obama. The son of an anthropologist described in the Chicago Tribune last year as a "fellow traveler" the warm and fuzzy term used to describe a communist sympathizer. Obama's mother, Ann Dunham married first a Kenyan economics student who abandoned her and her infant and then an Indonesian. When her second husband had his student visa revoked she followed him to Indonesia in 1967. Ann Dunham's doctoral dissertation reflected her admiration for more primitive cultures. She praised the peasant blacksmiths of Indonesia in terms she would never offer to any Americans. Anthropology was and is one of the far left fringes of our already left leaning universities. Raised by a mother like this Senator Obama could not possibly develop great admiration for America.

The second, and perhaps more important women in Obama's life, his wife is also no fan or the good old U S of A. The subject of Michelle Obama's college thesis was "Blackness at Princeton".
Mrs. Obama stated that she felt like a visitor at Princeton, like someone who didn't really belong. This was presented as the fault of Princeton not due to some sensitivity or shortcoming on the part of Mrs Obama. An average American would look at Mrs. Obama's life and think she had it pretty good. Attending Princeton and then Harvard law School is considered the pinnacle of academic achievement. Again Mrs. Obama speaks not of the opportunities she has enjoyed but of the hardships she has endured.

While urging a group of lower middle class women at a day care center in Ohio to eschew careers in lucrative jobs like corporate law and hedge fund management Mrs. Obama complained about the burden of student loans. Although she had a job at a Chicago Hospital making $120K she claimed they were unable to retire their student loans and save for their children in their 40's. I'm sure things began to look up when her husband was elected to the Senate and her salary was raised to $312K. That impressive raise made the news in the Chicago area.

Much has been said about Mrs. Obama's statement that she is now "for the first time in her adult life, really proud of my country", well, at least she called America "my country". I was more troubled by the rest of her statement. Mrs Obama went on to say that she has been "desperate to see our country moving in that direction" and "feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment". This is a woman angling to be our First Lady and when she describes this great country that has afforded her so much the words she uses are desperate, frustration and disappointment. As negative as these statements sound in print they are much worse when delivered by Mrs Obama. The only word I can find to describe the look on Mrs. Obama's face during these statements is "hate".

Since then Mrs Obama has gone on to repeatedly give a stump speech that she wrote for herself that includes the following. America is a country of "cynics, sloths, and complacents" we’re a divided country, we’re a country that is “just downright mean,”. I didn't go to Princeton or Harvard and I never got more then half way to earning a six-figure income but I know that America is anything but a "downright mean" country. I am six years older than Mrs. Obama but I have been "really proud" of my country time and time again.

Has Mrs. Obama never seen the space shuttle launch? She has traveled a lot I would guess. Has she never looked out of the window of the plane with awe and wonder at the magnificence of our great country. Would a "mean" country have given three billion to help the victims of the Sumatra Tsunami in 2004. Americans gave $283.05 billion in 2005 and an estimated $295.02 billion in 2006 to charitable causes, and those figures exclude disaster relief.

Anyway, enough about the wife except to say that no one would be married to this women unless he shared her beliefs. Obama speaks out against the American presence in Iraq in terms that can only undermine our attempts there and demean the country as a whole in world opinion. His own statement that he wants to make it possible for young Americans traveling abroad to "hold their heads high when they say they are Americans" makes clear that he feels they do not have reason to do so now. Like many on the left Barack Obama sees his country as the problem not the solution.

Would General Motors hire a CEO who believed that it was inferior to every other car maker on the planet? Would Starbucks choose a CEO who thought that no one should drink coffee? Should the American people elect a President who thinks that you should hang your heads in shame when you travel the globe? We did so at least once before, and the results were not positive.

GOP Bane, John McCain

John McCain is a war hero. Let's go ahead and get that out of the way first. McCain is not a phony war hero like John Kerry who spent a few months in Viet Nam and received three Purple Hearts without ever needing to spend a single night in the hospital. John McCain truly suffered in his service to his country and could not be more of a war hero unless he was that guy who blinked in morse code while reading the statement demanded by his captors. Now that that has been said let's review how Senator John McCain has served his country recently.

McCain teamed with uber-liberal Russ Feingold to limit your right to free speech. This bill wasn't aimed at pornography or what the politically correct call "hate speech". No, the McCain Feingold legislation was specifically directed at political speech. By some this was dubbed the "incumbent protection act" and this law has limited the ability of groups of citizens to get their message out regarding candidates running for elections during the time period when most voters are paying the most attention.

Senator McCain promised this legislation would "get the money out of politics" and just the opposite has happened. This faulty legislation has created 527's which allowed one man, George Soros to spend 24 million dollars to defeat the reelection of George W. Bush in 2004. Soros failed in this but he sure has gotten a lot of Americans stirred up and these organizations have kept people that way for the past 4 years.

Could Al Gore be a Bigger Nimrod?

Moronic megalomaniac Al Gore was in Oslo yesterday to accept his Nobel Peace Prize. Gore made a big show of arriving via public transportation. I haven't heard yet how exactly he got to Sweden. Gore's usual mode of transportation is a private plane. I did learn that while he was riding a bus from the airport his luggage was transported in a limousine.

Finally, finally some questions are being asked about the incredible amount of money Al gore has made pushing his junk science theory on global warming. At a Fortune Forum summit last month Gore collected 100,000 British pounds for a thirty minute speech. In addition to giving a speech that was a real snoozer Gore put off guests and journalists by acting like a diva. Gore is really raking it in giving essentially the same speech over and over again for fat fees.

While Gore was accepting his ridiculous award and making yet another rambling wooden speech, ice storms were taking aim at the Midwest region of the United States. Also, the International Journal of Climatology of the Royal Meteorological Society has published a report that CO2 is not a pollutant and that the warming the earth has experienced in recent years is natural and cannot be affected by an actions we may or may not take.

The report cites the cause of global warming as most likely variations in the solar wind and associated magnetic fields that affect the flux of cosmic rays incident on the earth’s atmosphere. Even more damaging to Gores insistence that CO2 levels are causing warming is the finding that earth's atmosphere is warming at the same rate as the surface. If Gore's "Greenhouse Effect" was truly occurring the atmosphere would be warming two to three times faster than the surface.

Consequently, reducing CO2 emissions would have no impact on global warming and would only be an incredible expense. An expense that Al Gore and others who are hawking "carbon offsets" will be collecting and taking to the bank.

Clinton News Network Rolls Over, Again!

During the Bill Clinton Presidency many of us on the Right referred to CNN as the Clinton News Network. This was due to CNN's habit of reporting glowingly of anything done by William Jefferson Clinton, his wife or any member of his administration. A kindness they never provided to the two men who proceeded him or the one who followed him.

What is CNN's motto? I think it has something to do with trust. Well you can certainly trust CNN to report only bad news as long as George W Bush is in the White House. I remember way back when, Bill Clinton was just taking office and Rush Limbaugh promised that the "Homeless Problem" that the media had been harping on since Ronald Reagan took office would disappear. Darned if it didn't only to resurface, though with less intensity once we had another Republican elected President.

During Al Gore's and John Kerry's run for office I got to see how hard the media would work to assist a Democrat into the Presidency. To this day Kerry still hasn't answered the many questions asked by the over 200 Viet Nam Veterans who became the Swiftboaters for Truth, or made good on his promise to have ALL of his military records released. He did accept a million dollar bet recently to disprove at least one of the charges the Swiftboaters alleged. I can't wait to see how that wager comes out. Kerry didn't have to worry about answering the questions during the 2004 election. The media, for the most part, investigated only the men bringing the charges not the validity of those claims. The facts supported the swiftboaters, Kerry did receive three Purple Hearts without ever spending one night in a hospital.

The recent CNN Democrat debate was carefully orchestrated to make sure Hillary didn't have a second disastrous performance. Although Wolf Blitzer claims he was not warned by the Clinton camp to "go easy" he did do just that. Blitzer gave Mrs Clinton all the time she needed to answer as she choose. Even when her answer contradicted prior statements Blitzer never asked a follow up question or challenged Mrs. Clinton in any way.

Now it turns out that everyone of the "Independent, undecided citizens" selected at random to ask a question of the candidates were democrat operatives. One is a seventeen-year-old who works for Harry Reid. This is not "Freedom of the Press" at it's best.

Shrillary's Not Great Debate

Surprisingly, Tim Russert asked some tough questions in the Democrat debate on Monday night. Hillary was not pleased and under pressure for the first time in her political career Mrs. Clinton made some serious mistakes. The following may not be in chronological order.

Until now Mrs. Clinton has not been asked about the New York Governor's unpopular plan to provide drivers licenses to illegal alien's even though she is one of the Senator's from that state. Russert asked her "Why does it make a lot of sense to give an illegal immigrant a driver's license?" Mrs. Clinton's initial response was to explain that what the Governor is trying to accomplish with this policy is "to fill the vacuum left by the failure of this administration to bring about comprehensive immigration reform". Brilliant, except that the President supported immigration reform and it was the Senate who did not produce a solution that could pass and be sent to the President for signature.

What was truly remarkable is that two minutes after defending the policy when Chris Dodd said he found the policy "troublesome" Mrs Clinton butt in with "Well, I just want to add, I did not say that it should be done, but I certainly recognize what Governor Spitzer is trying to do, and we have failed, we have failed." Dodd replied "No, no, no. You said yes, you thought it made sense to do it." Mrs. Clinton replied "No, I didn't, Chris", but she did, we all heard her. Russert pressed the point causing Mrs. Clinton to accuse him of playing "Gotcha" and to fall back on the party line of getting people to "come out of the shadows".

John Edwards pointed out that Hillary has accepted more in political donations from lobbyists, the drug companies, the insurance companies and the defense industry than any other Presidential candidate, Democrat or Republican. The point he was making is that Mrs. Clinton is not the person to change the way things currently work in Washington DC. Mrs. Clinton's reply was chilling her exact words were "I'm going to take $10 billion away from a lot of these industries". Then she threw two bogeymen under the bus, Halliburton and the HMO's. Luckily, for these lying Democrats, most Americans don't remember that Halliburton got "no bid contracts" during the Clinton Administration too, and our all knowing congress created the HMO's. Oh, and just for good measure, she threw in a reference to the Supreme Court handing the Presidency to George W. Bush, the left lunatic fringe loves to hear that fantasy repeated.

Mrs. Clinton was asked about the "mother of all tax increases" proposed by Charlie Rangle and waffled masterfully. Initially Mrs. Clinton claimed ignorance of the "details" of the plan but a few seconds later stated "I don't agree with all the details" So, does she know that details or not and if she doesn't know them how does she know that she disagrees with them.

Finally in a truly Clintonian example of duplicity, when Tim Russert asked if Mrs. Clinton would
allow the National Archives to release the documents regarding her communications with the president and the advice she gave to verify that she held an important role in that administration Mrs clinton did the following. First she tried to claim that documents were being released "as rapidly as the archives moves". Russert, that brute, pointed out that President Clinton has written a letter specifically asking that any communication between Mrs. Clinton and he not be made available to the public until 2012. When Russert asked again "Would you lift that ban?" the reply delivered with a huff and a sigh was "Well, that's not my decision to make, and I don't believe that any president or first lady ever has, but certainly we'll move as quickly as our circumstances and the processes of the National Archives permits." Don't hold your breath.

Same old, same old Clinton triangulation, misdirection, and faked umbrage that these question dare be asked of them. The Clinton's have built a political house of cards and eventually it will fall. Perhaps Al Gore will join the fray and the media which has protected the Clinton's for so long will turn on them. If the media ever began to really report on all the Clinton shady dealings their political careers would be dead and buried in 30 days. I think I'll visit that "Draft Gore" web site. See you there.

Why Shun Shunning?

At a recent dinner party my husband recounted a long ago incident which he remembers as me behaving rudely. When he spotted a former boyfriend of mine was at a restaurant where we were waiting for a table we kept our distance. It was our hope to avoid having to speak to this individual. Our plan almost succeeded. When this person barged up to our table asking if I knew he had married and thrusting his wedding ring under my nose I was taken aback. My reply was a bit unkind. I said, "No I didn't know you had gotten married and I never noticed what short stubby fingers you have". Now my former boyfriend was the one taken aback and he withdrew his ring clad hand as if it had been bitten.

I could have been nicer and I usually recommend erring on the side of kindness but do not regret my remark. This man had been a fairly rotten boyfriend. He and I were on a ski trip long ago the trip where I first learned to ski. We had been dating for a while at this time and we agreed that he would ski with his friends while I took skiing lessons. The deal was that if I learned to ski well enough to brave the blue ski runs after three days of lessons he would ski with me the last afternoon of our trip. I worked really hard to learn to ski and I made great progress. Then when the time came for us to ski together it just was not enough fun for him and he abandoned me.

There were other instances none really worth mentioning but eventually I decided the relationship had run it's course. I wrote a letter explaining exactly why I did not want to continue the relationship. Since people in our ski club were sure to notice we had split he brought an attractive young lady to the very next meeting. I don't recall her name and we never saw her again after that short appearance, she was after all only a prop. He did accomplish his goal. I was mildly humiliated and he was able to give the appearance that he had been the one who chose to move on from our relationship.

There was a time when it was considered part of one's societal responsibility to shun persons who had behaved badly. Before people became completely non-judgemental and learned that there would be no consequences to their actions people behaved better. Fifty years ago would Woody Allen have dared to marry his adopted daughter? He would have been turned away from "polite society" and told to never darken their doors again. Instead he explains "The heart wants what it wants" and gets to do exactly as he pleases with minimal criticism. When a man marries a woman young enough to be his daughter, and in this case one who was raised as his daughter, he is following one of his organs but it isn't his heart.

So, if Woody Allen rushes up to your table in a restaurant to show you his wedding ring feel free to be as rude to him as you like. You have my permission.

How the Clinton's Led the Left to Sell Their Souls

The Devil made me do it has never really flown as a legitimate excuse for any one's actions but let's take a look at what the Clinton's have led their supporters to do.

Because of Bill Clinton feminists had to defend not just an adulterer, but a a serial womanizer, a sleazy groper and most likely an actual rapist. This couldn't have been easy for the "no means NO" crowd.

Veterans had to defend not just a draft dodger but one who escaped the draft by promising to join the ROTC and then weaseled out of that commitment in a letter where he admitted that he "loathes the military". Veterans had to defend this draft dodger while he was running against two true WWII war hero's, George Bush and Bob Dole. That had to feel wrong, wrong, wrong especially after Clinton's first action in office. The courageous "Don't ask don't tell" policy. That's was really impressive leadership.

Unions leaders had to let thousands of sweet, high paying jobs go by the wayside to save Anwar, a desolate frozen area that most closely resembles the surface of the moon. They had to let all those jobs and all the new union members the jobs could have generated go to save a place where no one lives and which no one would want to visit. Then the most bitter pill of all they saw the passage of NAFTA. That can't have been easy to swallow.

The trial lawyers probably had the least trouble. No one can put their principles aside like a trial lawyer. It's almost as if they have none. However even lawyers take umbrage at perjury and obstruction of justice. This was the only time the Supreme Court boycotted a state of the union address right? It was all of the Justices too, not just the non-liberal ones.

I may be wrong about this as the Left may have been soulless prior to the Clinton's arrival. They are, after all, Godless and generally joyless. Still, you can understand that some of them are apprehensive at the idea of another Clinton administration. As well they should be.

You May Not Know Jack, But You BETTER Know About George

George Soros that is. This guy has a finger in every left leaning pie in the world Many people know Soros is one of the biggest financiers of MoveOn.org but there is much more George supports and not everyone knows he is out there working behind the scenes to influence public policy.

There is an organization called the "Open Society Institute. In addition to supporting lots of liberal causes this organization has been very helpful to NASA's James Hansen. Any scientists who is skeptical of the "global warming consensus" is accused of being backed by big oil. James Hansen has been described as a "lone whistle blower" who was allegedly censored by the Bush administration. An accusation that is made laughable by the fact that NASA changed it's media policies to allow Hansen to continue his crusade. It was recently reported that Hansen received $720,000 to help him spread the alarm about "global warming". Who is politicizing science now? How would Hansen's credibility been affected if everyone knew who was backing him?

The Open Society Institute had a hand in another big news story in 2006. When all the "immigration rallies" began it was reported that this was a spontaneous grass roots movement. There was no mention of an organizer or instigator except for a Los Angeles Spanish-language radio station. That was not true. The truth is that the 17 million dollar Justice Fund, a underling of the OSI listed 19 projects for 2006 and one was "immigration rallies" another was funding illegal immigrants activists groups court cases. These immigrants and their supporters didn't "rise up" on their own. They were manipulated by one of Soro's well funded groups.

You have heard, I'm sure, about some of the court cases that seem to favor terrorists. Have you ever wondered who brings these suits? The Open Society Institute spent $74 million in 2006 to "shape U.S. policy". Some court cases they backed and won include the Supreme Court's decision to abolish military commissions judging terrorists at Guantanamo. They financially supported the radicals who pressured the TSA to eliminate their "Secure Flight" program, which matched passenger lists against lists of terrorists names. The lawyers who persuaded the Texas judge to block tracking terrorists cell phones were funded by OSI too. Soros' OSI partners with a group called the Tides Foundation which is a cause Terri Kerry supports and which is know for very quietly transferring funds from wealthy donors to left wing "fringe groups" like eco-terrorism.

Another "below the radar" political organization called "Democracy Alliance" enjoys great largess from Soros. The policy of Democracy Alliance seems to be that the party whose name is closest to the word Democracy gets full control of the government. This group was formed in 2005 and until this week I had never heard of them, had you? This is another group throwing vast sums of money and misinformation around to further their far left agenda.

That brings us to America Coming Together or ACT which is not dedicated to the sexual fulfillment of all Americans, but would be less worrisome if it were. Remember all the news about "disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff"? Well ACT was fined $775,000 by the Federal Election Commission, the third largest fine in FEC history and there was hardly a ripple in the main stream news about it. In 2004 ACT raised $137 million in 17 states, most of which the FEC says were illegal contributions. Why isn't this BIG NEWS?

Wake up America! You need to know who these people are and what they are doing behind the scenes to manipulate you.

ENVIRO-COMMUNISM or Is Green the New Red?

With the fall of the Soviet Union Communism lost most of it's luster. American Liberals finally had to give up the dream. Without the USSR Communism was never going to catch on and overcome Capitalism. Too bad for the Left but those folks, if anything, are resourceful. They saw early that taking up the cause to "Save the Planet" could open another front in the fight against Capitalism.

From the Nixon administration's creation of the EPA on there has been a never ending battle between capitalism and so called environmentalists (which I shall here in refer to as Enviro-Mentals). Whenever and where ever someone wanted to build homes, factories or any commercial enterprise they would have to run a gauntlet of inspections, regulations and frequently litigation. Hundred year-old family farms were left to dry up and blow away while the water was reserved to save a tiny fish, the snail darter. Logging interests had to be shut down to save the spotted owl who we were told could only live in certain trees. This was disproved when a family of these owls took up residence in a K-Mart sign.

The Enviro-Mentals have successfully prevented the construction of an oil refinery in this country for over thirty years. They opposed the Alaskan Pipeline but were unable to prevent it. Their dire warnings of the destruction the pipeline would cause never came true. Just the opposite occurred. Caribou populations expanded as they found some previously unavailable warmth generated by the pipeline. The Enviro-Mentals have successfully prevented us from tapping the huge oil reserves in Anwar while other Liberals and some reasonable folks denounce our dependence on foreign oil.

The new Crisis du jour from the Enviro-Mentals is "Global Warming" Ah, if not for Global Warming we might have heard the last of Al Gore, but no such luck. Again, those who so loudly decry the horror of an increase in the temperature of the northern hemisphere of less than two degrees in one hundred years vehemently oppose the one source of energy which causes no carbon emissions, nuclear power.

Most Americans may be unaware that Canada uses nuclear power for a lot of their energy needs. France produces 76% of it's electricity from 56 nuclear power plants. There hasn't been a nuclear incident for decades and we can certainly make safe use of a power source that has been mastered by the French. Does Global Warming guru Al Gore call for a switch to nuclear power? Absolutely not. Instead he calls for all of us to live our lives greener. Gore himself can't do so, his mission is too important, but he expects you to lessen the way you live your life.

Some scientists disagree with the "global warming consensus". Al Gore calls them "Deniers" comparing them to people who claim one of history's darkest events never happened. Anyone who fails to buy the "global warming lie" hook line and sinker is attacked. During the Clinton Administration any government scientist who doubted global warming was fired any others were advised they would be blacklisted from receiving any government grants.

The only solution the Enviro-Mentals will accept is to throw even more draconian hurdles in front of American business interests. The estimated cost to our economy for reducing carbon emissions per Al Gore's baby, the Kyoto Treaty was 77 to 338 Billion in 1992 dollars. I assure you the price hasn't decreased in the past 15 years. A hefty price tag has never been a deterrent to those on the left who seek bigger and bigger government. No problem, they'll just "tax the rich".

All to keep the planet at it's current temperature. The benefits of some additional warming are never discussed. There is significant scientific evidence to support theories that the earth has been warmer than current temperatures in the past. Directly prior to the Renaissance for example. A warming trend resulted in longer growing seasons and world wide benefits to mankind. Now record heat is big news and record cold is ignored. Here's an idea, if we have to ignore something let's make it Al Gore.

I Love Liberals

I love liberals, don't you? Only a liberal can pick a fight and then if you respond in any manner other than total capitulation they accuse you of attacking them and suddenly take the high road. Recently I had two email encounters that seemed to go that way. The first was quite a shock as seemingly out of the blue a business acquaintance sent me a brief tirade about President Bush and Vice-Pres Chaney. When I replied with some defense I got a haughty reply about how neither of us will likely convince the other so we should drop it. HE started it but WE should drop it. No problem there I deleted him form my address book. He was a flaky attorney from Dade County. He won't be missed.

This does explain how so many liberals can support Hillary Clinton. I find it totally unreasonable for anyone to attack then cry foul, hardly good sportsmanship or even adult behavior. Apparently many disagree and that makes it reasonable, for them and for Hillary to have it both ways. When Hillary accuses some imaginary "Vast Right wing Conspiracy" for making up lies about her husband canoodling with an intern that is a perfectly legitimate claim. When it turns out that her husband was doing exactly what he was accused of he is the only liar in the scenario no apology is offered. When asked by Tim Russert if she owes an apology for that accusation Mrs. Clinton reverts to innocent victim replying only "I wish that none of us had to go through that very difficult time. Never taking any responsibility for causing the "very difficult time".

When Hillary and others accuse the President of every evil imaginable including knowingly allowing September 11th to happen that is their Constitutional Right. If anyone dares to reasonably point out that these statements might damage our country and hurt our chances of winning the war in Iraq they scream foul! "How dare you" they cry! "How dare you impugn my patriotism". It's amazing to me. You can watch it time and time again, first outrageous behavior and then when that behavior is commented upon immediate highhanded victim hood. This passive aggressive ploy has silenced Americans nationwide. Millions of conservative and moderate Americans just pipe down to avoid the theatrics the left employs if you dare speak up.

One good example occurred at a women's bible class of all places. A very outspoken woman thought it appropriate to say in a bible class how she "hates" being in any group that thinks President Bush is so great. This was not in response to anything said in class, politics had not been mentioned. This woman just wanted us all to know that if we had anything positive to say about the President, that would be offensive to her. I think I would have been happier living in the 1950's when folks were more likely to be offended by negative statements about the President.

Here we are, in a country where you would hesitate to say in public "I think President Bush is doing the best job possible under very difficult circumstances". Hows that for muzzeling the opposition. Millions of people are afraid to voice and support for our President. Supporting the President openly has been deemed "rude" but defaming him venomously is perfectly allowed.

It's a crazy time! And, not in a good way.

Second Clinton Fundrasing Scandal - THIS WEEK

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that a small home in Daly City, CA was one of the biggest Democrat donors. There was a connection between the occupants of that house, the Paw family and a New York businessman named Norman Hsu. Hsu, is a "Hillraiser", the title given to someone who has committed to raising $100,000 for Hilliary Clinton.

Today we learn that Mr. Hsu is a wanted man. There has been a warrant for his arrest in California since 1992. Many Democrats who have enjoyed Mr Hsu's financial support are returning the funds or giving them to charity. So far, only Minnesota Rep. Michael Honda is returning the donations from the Paws and another contributor Hsu lined up.

In an unrelated additional scandal another "fundraiser", Abdul Rehman Jinnah, is thought to have fled the country after an indictment on charges of conspiracy and making illegal campaign contributions. This gentleman, a Pakistani immigrant, disappeared in May after being indicted and is thought to have returned to Pakistan.

Prior to the indictment Jinnah directed $30,000 to Mrs Clinton's campaign and $50, 000 to Barbara Boxer. It is alleged that he organized fake fundraisers where he would collect contributions from friends and family members and reimburse them. His flight makes one think the allegations are probably true.

Please No Forwards on Politics

Today, as a second foreign Clinton contributor has reportedly fled the country to avoid indictment on charges of conspiracy and making illegal campaign contributions, I received a reply to my email about yesterday's Clinton campaign scandal. That reply from a family member was "Please no forwards on politics". That one line sums up the way we went through eight years of Bill Clinton and how some plan to get through Hillary's campaign and heaven forbid another Clinton administration. Normally rational people will close their eyes to any and nearly all Clinton misdeeds with their fingers in their ears chanting "la, la, la, la, la".

The same people who have openly expressed their desire to personally harm our President chide me for daring to bring some shady dealings to their attention. People who never hesitate to tell you how much they absolutely hate President Bush act as though you are behaving boorishly if you mention that Ms. Clinton has not one but two new fund raising scandals to explain. People who will believe our President capable of any evil up to and including knowing about the September 11th attacks in advance but allowing thy to occur in some mad grab for power go all huffy on you for questioning the character of a proved liar, swindler and generally despicable person.

My reply, which will go unspoken to that family member is "I'll respect your wishes but cannot respect your attitude".

Here Comes Another One Just Like the Other One

What is it with the Chinese and the Clinton's? Bill Clinton took tons of illegal donations from Chinese and Hillary appears to be doing the same.

There is a six member family, the Paws, who live in a 1280 square foot residence that sits in Daly City, CA under one of the flight paths for San Francisco International airport. Although Mr and Mrs Paw and their four grown children are of modest means they are some of the Democrat Party's biggest contributors. Since 2005 the Paws have donated a total of $200,000 to Democrats $45,000 of that going to Ms Clinton.

The Paws are Chinese and all got their Social Security numbers in 1982. They did not seem to be politically active until this recent generous support of all things Democrat. Five of the six Paws are registered to vote as Non-partisans and according to county election officials vote only "sporadically". There was no record of any political donations made by the Paws until they gave $3,600 to John Kerry during the 2004 presidential election . The Paws first donation to Ms Clinton was the maximum allowed (at the time) $4,000 to her Senate campaign in December of 2004. Odd that a member of a middle class family in Daly City, California would contribute to a New York Senate race. Another donation of $17,500 went to Ms Clinton in March 2005.

There is something else fishy about the Paw family donations. Another benefactor for the Democrats and specifically Ms Clinton is New York businessman Norman Hsu and his donations have been made on the same dates and in the amounts as the Paws donations. Oh, one other odd detail, Mr Hsu previously listed the Paw residence as his home address.

I'm sure there is a simple explanation for his but doubt it will ever be given or even asked for by our "main stream media" who always gives Democrats and especially the Clinton's a pass.

LEARNING TO READ

I really wish I could remember learning to read. For an unknown, to me at least, period of time I had "read" Green Eggs and Ham to my Dad every night. I had memorized the book from his prior reading to me and could recite every line on each page so I must of had some idea of the relationship between the words on the pages and the words coming out of my mouth. Although I think I associated the words I remembered with the pictures on the pages.

I have lots of memories from the first grade but do not recall the exact moment when I learned how to read. Kindergarten was optional at the time and no one had ever heard of pre-school. The first grade was my first experience with formal education. I clearly remember standing with the class and reciting the alphabet. There was also a version we did that went "A, apple, B, Ball etc. In that version X was a bit sticky as none of us had ever seen or heard of a xylophone. I later remember sitting in a circle on the floor of the classroom reading aloud when my turn came. I don't recall the reading matter but think I was in the "best readers" circle. Imagine the hue and cry if in today's first grade classroom the teacher tried to designate a small group as "the best" anything and allowed them to read from more advanced texts.

Still, I am sorry I cannot recall that moment of enlightenment when I realized that the letters made words and the words contained meanings. It must have been like discovering an amazing decoder ring that could unlock the mysteries of the universe. Or maybe it was just a quick "Ahhh" moment.

DO WOMEN HAVE FEET?

It is amazing how much time and money women spend on their feet. Shoes are a passion with most women and the prices for designer footwear are off the charts. A pedicure, once a luxury, is now a monthly necessity for almost all women. Why do we put so much effort into the most overlooked feature of our bodies? Sure your girlfriends notice your shoes but men don't. Most men are barely aware that women have feet. By the way, if you meet a man who takes notice of your shoes, kick those shoes off and run for your life!

CARTER SUPPORTS HAMAS

Former President Carters latest outrage clarifies his inclination to support thugs and terrorists.

Carter says the U.S. should stop favoring Fatah over Hamas. In a speech to a group of Irish "human rights activists" Carter said that "the Bush administration's refusal to accept Hamas' election was criminal". Funny, Carter thought his own refusal to accept the 1979 election results in Zimbabwe during his presidency was just peachy keen. Thanks to Carter and others on the Left who ignored the elected leader Abel Muzorewa and continued to support Robert Mugabe he was able to steal the 1980 election and seize power. How has Mugabe worked out for Zimbabwe? Well in the past 27 years thousands have been tortured and murdered, there has been genocide and mass starvation the world's highest level of inflation and lowest life expect ency. Carter leter claimed he had done the right thing but that Mugabe had become corrupted by power.

Since the last Palestinian election there has been a Fatah-Hamas power-sharing government. Last week Hamas fighters seized control of the Gaza Strip by force, driving Fatah out of the area. President Abbas then dissolved the government and set up a Fatah-led administration to govern the west bank. The Bush administration and the European Union (how often do these two entities agree?) decided to provide aid that has been withheld since the election to the interim Fatah government.

Despite the fact that there was a full out civil war going on in the region Cater claimed the decision to give aid to the new Fatah government only was an "effort to divide Palestinians into two peoples". Carter cares not a whit that the Hamas leadership refuses to renounce violence and continues to call for the destruction of Israel.

On Monday of this week as hundreds of terrified civilians tried to flee the Gaza Strip for sanctuary in Israel, disguised Hamas gunmen blended in with the crowd and then threw hand grenades at Israeli soldiers. They killed one Palestinian and injured 15 others at Erez. That is the tactics of the group Carter wants us to treat like an ally.

For the past week the so called "Palestinians" have been busy killing each other in the Gaza Strip. This is the stretch of land formerly occupied by Israeli forces that was handed over as a step in the "road map to peace". Well, thanks to Ha mas and Fatah we have veered sharply off the "road map to peace". Sympathy for the innocent aside I have no problem with these two groups of people killing each other especially if it precludes them from blowing up children and their grandmothers having pizza in Israel.

Hamas got a foot in the door in the recent election and are moving to take full control by force. If you have doubts about the need for us to finish the job in Iraq just look at Hamas in the Gaza Strip to see what Iraq will turn into if we leave prematurely.

Please compare the following statements made by Democrat Harry Reid.............

WP reports that Senator Harry Reid provoked by an article in USA Today took some cheap shots at General David Petraeus. Petraeus, was unanimously approved by the Senate to take command in Iraq four months ago. Still after approving Gen. Petraeus Reid now claims that the General "isn't in touch with what's going on in Baghdad." Reid also indicated that he thinks Petraeus has not been sufficiently open in his testimony to Congress. Noting that Petraeus, who is now on his third tour of duty in Iraq, oversaw the training of Iraqi troops during his second stint there, Reid said: "He told us it was going great; as we've looked back, it didn't go so well.

The quote in USA Today was that the general sees "astonishing signs of normalcy" in the Iraqi capital. "I'm talking about professional soccer leagues with real grass field stadiums, several amusement parks -- big ones, markets that are very vibrant," Petraeus told the newspaper.
Reid went on to say "I was a little disappointed, to say the least, today reading the USA Today newspaper, where he's saying things are going fine." Seeing signs of normalcy is hardly saying "things are going fine." I sincerely doubt that you could find any instance of General Petraeus saying "things are going fine," in a war zone.

Reid had a conversation Tuesday with liberal bloggers, according to The Politico, in which he disparaged both Petraeus and Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff whom the administration recently did not nominate for a second two-year term. Reid called Pace "incompetent," and then questioned the integrity of Petraeus by saying he is "waiting to see if General Petraeus can be a little more candid with this."

Compare to statements made by Harry Reid at the time of his last visit to Iraq, March of 2005. "I came away with the feeling that we cannot leave Iraq." He was one of seven Senate Democrats and Republicans that took a week-long trip to the Middle East and several countries near the region. He said, "I came away with the feeling we cannot leave Iraq. If we do, the terrorists will have won." Reid must have forgotten all about that as he actually said "Now I believe myself............that this war is lost" on April 19, 2007.

Harry Reid is a corrupt Democrat. It is well known that you cannot do business in the state of Nevada unless you grease the palms of one or more of the members of the Harry Reid family. However, for the majority leader in the Senate to undermine our war efforts in this way is much more egregious than his ethically questionable and highly profitable land dealings.

Who is more likely to be "out of touch" with the way things are going in Baghdad, the general running our operations there or a fat cat senator sitting in Washington D.C. trying to think up more ways to thwart the President and enrich himself? There is only one accurate description of Harry Reid's behavior and the word is treasonous.

"Bush Lied" Not!

Multiple Democrats have repeatedly tried to assert that President Bush "Lied us into the war in Iraq". Nothing could be further from the truth, but the truth is a small obstical to the left and their obedient minions in the media. Long ago it was alleged that Vice President Cheney pressured analysts in our intelligence organizations to find that Saddam hissain had WMD's. That fallicy was disproved by the 9.11 Report. So the left just waited a week or two and began again to make their "Bush Lied, Kids Died" claims.

Now that allegation is disproved by none other than Al Gore. A video taped speech from 1992 has surfaced. In it Al Gore, then running for Vice President, criticises the first President Bush for not confronting Saddam Hussein. Gore makes all the same arguments for attacking Iraq that were made by President Clinton when he made removal of Saddam Hussein the policy of the United states of America. Clinton never followed through on that policy with the exception of a few high altitude bombings.

If one had the time and the inclination you could put together an impressive collection of leading Democrats calling for action against Iraq and explaining how very dangerous Hussein is to us and the world. It is convenient for those Democrats to pretend that they never made those statements and that no one ever considered action against Iraq until Bush 43 came along. The Media willingly complies by reporting the Democrats current criticism and never mentioning the conflicting statements these same people made just a few years ago.

Unfortunately for the Media and the Left, some of us do have more than short time memories and there is always YouTube to fill in the blanks for those who have forgotten.

Who Really Hates the U.S.?

Our wonderful "main stream media" has been telling us since President Bush took office that our country is hated, truly hated throughout the world. Can we be sure this is true? This is the same MSM who told us that AID's was becoming an epidemic among heterosexuals, which was untrue. The same MSM warned us that the Avian Flu would be killing ten percent of America by now which hasn't happened. The same MSM who are telling us we have changed the climate of the earth, but can't prove it.

I admit that there will always be some anti-American factions out there and the MSM will dutifully report every protest they put on, but how widespread is this feeling? When they report on these protests take notice of the camera angle. If you are seeing an aerial shot of thousands in the streets then there are thousands in the streets. If the cameras are on the ground and the shots are rather narrow you might be looking at a small number of people filmed to look like a lot of people. This ploy was used at a Cindy Sheehan event a year ago. The picture was cropped to prevent readers from seeing that there were more reporters present than protesters.

Lets look at the way the rest of the world has been voting lately. According to the MSM America is hated because the world absolutely despises George W Bush whom we have had the bad taste to elect, twice. In Germany the candidate who presented herself as an ally of the United States was elected and the anti Bush candidate lost. In Australia, our second best ally in Iraq, Prime Minister Howard was re-elected. If you were asked which European country hates us the most you would probably say France. They just had an election in France. One candidate, an attractive woman was clearly anti-American and decidedly anti-Bush. She called her opponent, Nicolas Sarkozy "the Bush candidate" in hopes of using hatred of Bush to win the election. Sarkozy won with 53 percent of the votes!

Apparently it is the MSM that hated America and president Bush, not a majority of Europeans.

Which is a more pressing threat, world hunger or global warming? I recently lived in Illinois where the move toward Ethanol was heralded as a wonderful thing. Illinois is a state with lots of agriculture and they would profit from anything that would drive up the price of corn. There was no mention of the downside.

Since then the cost of food has been rising steadily. I heard yesterday that food costs are up 17%. Since the fanfare about the wonder of Ethanol I have learned that burning it causes more pollution than burning gasoline. We have been trying to drill for oil in Anwar for 20 years and haven't allowed another oil refinery to be built in this country in 30 years. Perhaps we should do something about those two causes for high oil prices before we take a chance of starving a small percentage of the world population to make ourselves feel good because we are using less oil.

In his life time he has given birth to radical Islam, helped the Marxist, Robert Mugabe, oust Abel Muzorewa, the elected leader of Zimbabwe, embraced Fidel Castro and made it possible for North Korea to have nuclear weapons. That is quite a list of accomplishments for one man. Recently Carter, who has run his mouth more freely than any former President in history called the Bush foreign policy the history of America but history will eventually lay that honor at his feet, one of which will undoubtedly be in his mouth.
